Whether you are replacing a worn-out tread on Kwikee motorized steps or adding grip to any flat RV step surface, the Lippert 164958 anti-skid tape installs in minutes with no tools required. The built-in glow-in-the-dark strip marks the step edge in low-light conditions -- a practical safety detail for late-night arrivals at the campground.
Worn step treads are one of the most common causes of slips and falls on an RV entry. The Lippert 164958 is a direct replacement for factory-installed tread strips on Kwikee step systems and many OEM steps from Jayco and Thor. It fits the standard 21-inch-wide single step and requires nothing more than a clean, dry surface and firm hand pressure to apply.
The aggressive anti-skid texture bites through light moisture, road dust, and the grit that accumulates around campsite firepits -- exactly the conditions where a smooth metal or plastic step edge becomes dangerous. Sold individually so you can replace one tread at a time as needed.
Self-adhesive backing bonds directly to the step surface -- no screws, no rivets, no drilling. Clean the step, peel the liner, press firmly, and done.
Integrated phosphorescent strip absorbs ambient light and glows in the dark, marking the step edge so you and your passengers find their footing safely at night.
Cross-referenced to Kwikee, Jayco, and Thor part numbers. Designed to the same 21 x 6 in. footprint as the original factory tread strips.
At 0.2 lbs per strip, it adds virtually no weight. The low-profile design does not interfere with step retraction on motorized Kwikee systems.
Best results: Clean the step surface thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry completely before applying. Apply at temperatures above 50 deg F for best adhesive bond. Press firmly along the entire length and edges, then allow 24 hours before heavy use if possible.
If you are removing an old tread strip first, use a plastic scraper or heat gun on low to soften the adhesive. Residual adhesive can be cleaned up with an adhesive remover or isopropyl alcohol before applying the new tape. Attempting to apply the new tape over residue will reduce adhesion and shorten the service life of the replacement.
Note: This tape is sold individually -- one strip per package. Multi-step entries will require one strip per step. If your coach has two or three steps, order accordingly.
This tape is cross-referenced to the following OEM part numbers, confirming fitment on a wide range of Class A, Class C, and fifth-wheel entry step applications:
Maintenance reminder: Inspect step treads at the start of every season and after extended winter storage. Adhesive can weaken after prolonged exposure to UV and temperature cycling. A fresh tread strip is inexpensive insurance against a preventable fall.
