Safety chains are legally required in most states when towing with a gooseneck connection — and the MORryde RGN77-001 is the purpose-built chain kit designed specifically for use with the MORryde GooseTech™ Gooseneck Box. Safety chains are not included with the GooseTech pin box and must be purchased separately. The RGN77-001 is the correct accessory to complete a legal, road-ready GooseTech installation.
Built from Grade 70 high-strength steel chain with a yellow zinc corrosion-resistant finish, the RGN77-001 is rated for 26,000 lbs — well matched to the heavy-duty towing demands of fifth wheel trailers connected via gooseneck. At 84.5" in length, the chain provides ample reach and slack for turns without dragging. The clevis hook design provides secure, easy attachment to the tow vehicle's safety chain loops or anchor points in the truck bed.

The MORryde GooseTech Gooseneck Box does not include safety chains. Safety chains are a required component for legal gooseneck towing in most states and must be purchased and installed separately. Two chains are required per GooseTech installation. The RGN77-001 is sold individually — order a quantity of two to complete your setup. Do not tow with a GooseTech system without properly installed, rated safety chains. Failure to install safety chains may be a violation of state and federal towing regulations.
The RGN77-001 is designed for use with the MORryde GooseTech™ Gooseneck Box system. Before ordering, confirm: 1. You have a GooseTech Gooseneck Box installed (RGN74-series or equivalent). This chain kit is not intended for use with MORryde's standard Rubber Pin Box (RPB-series) or traditional fifth wheel hitches. 2. Your tow vehicle has rated anchor points — ensure your truck bed or hitch has safety chain loops or anchor points rated to match or exceed the 26,000 lb chain rating. 3. Safety Chain Installation Steps: 1. Locate Anchor Points: Identify the rated safety chain anchor points or loops on your tow vehicle — these must be rated to match or exceed the 26,000 lb chain capacity 2. Attach to GooseTech: Thread or attach the chain end to the designated safety chain slot on the GooseTech Gooseneck Box per MORryde's installation guide 3. Cross the Chains: Route chains in a crossed pattern beneath the connection point to form a cradle — standard safety chain practice required by most regulations 4. Attach Clevis Hook: Connect the clevis hook to the tow vehicle's anchor point or chain loop, ensuring the hook opening faces downward 5. Check Slack: Verify adequate slack for turns without the chain dragging on the ground at any point 6.
