Camco 45196 Black-Out RV Roof Vent Insulator
Block sunlight, cut heat gain, and improve interior comfort year-round with this drop-in reflective foam insulator made for standard 14 x 14 inch RV roof vents.
The Camco 45196 is a simple, effective solution for the biggest thermal weak point in most RV ceilings: the roof vent. Standard 14 x 14 inch vents -- the most common size on travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes -- allow significant radiant heat gain in summer and heat loss in winter. This insulator drops into the vent frame from the inside and stays put without tools or adhesives.
The insert uses a three-layer construction: a reflective outer layer to bounce radiant heat, a thick foam core to resist conductive transfer, and a soft synthetic fleece interior facing that blends with typical RV headliners. At approximately 2-3/4 inches thick, it delivers meaningful insulation in a low-profile package that stores flat when not in use.
Bounces radiant solar heat before it can conduct through the vent frame, reducing heat gain on hot summer days.
Approximately 2-3/4 inch foam thickness resists conductive heat transfer in both directions -- summer and winter.
White synthetic fleece facing is gentle on hands during removal and blends with standard RV headliner panels.
Press-fit design drops into any standard 14 x 14 inch vent frame from the interior -- no screws, adhesives, or cutting required.
This insulator is most useful for:
Standard 14 x 14 inch vents are found on the vast majority of travel trailers, fifth wheels, Class A, B, and C motorhomes, and truck campers built in the last 30+ years. If your vent lid measures 14 x 14 inches at the interior opening, this insulator is sized to fit.
The Camco 45196 is compatible with vents that have add-on fans such as the Fantastic Fan and Maxxair models, as long as the fan unit is removed or the insulator is installed in the open vent frame below the fan housing. Check your interior clearance before ordering if a fan shroud is present.
If a vent fan motor or shroud extends down into the interior vent frame, the insulator may not seat fully. Measure available depth inside your vent frame before ordering. The insert is approximately 2-3/4 inches thick and requires that clearance to fit flush.
