Stop fighting the afternoon sun at your campsite. The Carefree of Colorado EZ ZipBlocker installs once into your awning roller tube and then zips in or out in seconds every time you set up -- no ladder, no frustration, no re-threading. At 17 feet wide and a 9-foot drop, it creates a shaded outdoor living space that stays comfortable without sealing off your view entirely.
Traditional awning shade panels require re-threading every time you deploy them, which usually means climbing a ladder and fighting fabric in a breeze. The EZ ZipBlocker solves that with a two-part design: a permanent lead strip that stays inside the roller tube and rolls up with the awning, and a separate blocker fabric that zips onto the lead in seconds from ground level. Once the lead is installed, you never touch the tube again.
The 17-foot width covers awnings 17 feet and longer, and the 9-foot drop provides serious coverage from the sun's angle through midday and afternoon hours. The open black mesh fabric blocks up to 85% of incoming light and UV while still allowing airflow and preserving sightlines -- you can see out, but the sun and glare stay out too.
Open-weave black mesh reduces light, UV exposure, and glare without turning your awning area into a dark box. Air still moves through freely.
The lead strip stays in the roller tube permanently. Zip the blocker fabric onto the lead each time you set up -- entirely from the ground.
100% woven polyester fabric with a durable vinyl coating resists UV degradation, moisture, and the wear that comes from regular rolling and unrolling.
The lead insert rolls up neatly inside the awning roller tube when you retract the awning. The blocker fabric is removed and stored separately before rolling.
The zipper connection between the lead and blocker fabric is built for frequent cycling. Attach it each morning, remove it before you roll up and move -- that's the intended workflow and it keeps both the awning and the ZipBlocker in good condition over the long term.
Carefree includes everything you need for a complete installation:
The EZ ZipBlocker requires an awning with an open slot in the roller tube -- this is the standard configuration on most Carefree of Colorado awning models. Verify that your roller tube has an accessible open slot before ordering. This panel is sized for awnings 17 feet and longer.
First-time setup takes 20 to 30 minutes and does not require a ladder on most RV configurations. Slide the lead strip into the open slot on the roller tube, secure it, and your one-time installation is complete. Every subsequent setup is just zipping the blocker fabric onto the lead from ground level, then staking or Velcro-securing the lower edge. Removal before rolling the awning is equally fast -- unzip the blocker, store it, then retract the awning normally with the lead inside the tube.
Always remove the blocker fabric panel before retracting your awning. Rolling the awning with the complete EZ ZipBlocker attached can prevent the awning from operating correctly and may cause permanent damage to both the awning canopy and the ZipBlocker fabric. Only the lead strip should remain in the roller tube during storage and travel.
