EnglanderPart 200922006+ Pellet StovesEnglander CU-VS Vacuum Shut Down Switch -- Part 20092

The Englander CU-VS is the correct combustion vacuum safety switch for 2006 and later Englander pellet stoves. When combustion airflow drops below the safe threshold, this switch shuts the stove down before incomplete combustion or back-puffing can occur. This is a direct OEM-style replacement sold individually -- pair it with one PU-VS switch for a complete two-switch installation on 2006 and newer units.

Keep Your Pellet Stove Running Safely

Englander pellet stoves rely on a matched pair of vacuum switches to monitor combustion draw. Starting with 2006-model-year units, Englander changed the switch configuration: one PU-VS and one CU-VS are required (replacing the older two-PU-VS setup used on pre-2006 machines). If your stove is shutting down unexpectedly, failing to light, or throwing a vacuum-related fault, a failed CU-VS is a common cause.

This switch is also listed under NBK Parts 20092. If you sourced a cross-reference number from a parts house or service manual under that designation, this is the same component.

Correct 2006+ Switch

Designed specifically for the revised switch layout used on Englander pellet stoves built in 2006 and later. Not interchangeable with the older dual-PU-VS setup.

Combustion Safety

Monitors negative pressure (draft) in the combustion chamber. Shuts the stove down if airflow falls below the 0.05 in. WC threshold, preventing unsafe operation.

Compact Form Factor

At 3 in. x 2-3/8 in. x 2 in. and only 0.2 lbs., the CU-VS installs in the original mounting location without modification.

Wide Model Coverage

Fits dozens of Englander freestanding and insert pellet stove models across multiple series -- see the full compatibility list below.

How the Two-Switch System Works

On 2006 and later Englander pellet stoves, the control board monitors two independent vacuum switches during operation:

  • PU-VS -- Pressure/upper vacuum switch (sold separately). Monitors one aspect of the combustion air circuit.
  • CU-VS (this part) -- Combustion/upper vacuum switch. Monitors the negative pressure generated by the combustion blower.

Both switches must close (confirm adequate draft) for the stove to operate and remain lit. If either switch fails open, the board will shut down the burn cycle. When troubleshooting a nuisance shutdown, test both switches before replacing only one.

Correct Pairing for 2006 and Later: Use (1) PU-VS switch and (1) CU-VS switch (this part). Do NOT use two CU-VS switches -- the two switches in the pair are not identical.
Pre-2006 Models: Earlier Englander pellet stoves use (2) PU-VS switches instead of the PU-VS / CU-VS combination. Check your stove's model year and service label before ordering to confirm you need the CU-VS.
Maintenance Tip: Vacuum switch failures on pellet stoves are often caused by blocked exhaust venting, a dirty or failing combustion blower, or cracked vacuum tubing -- not the switch itself. Before replacing the CU-VS, inspect the vent run for blockages and confirm the combustion blower spins freely and moves adequate air. A switch that tests good in isolation may still fault if system draft is low.

Compatible Englander Pellet Stove Models

The CU-VS (part 20092) is confirmed to fit the following Englander model numbers. Englander freestanding models are listed alongside their matching SHP (Superior Hearth Products) and TRP insert variants where applicable:

  • 10-CDV, 49-SHC22, 49-TRC22
  • 10-CPM, 49-SHCPM, 49-TRCPM
  • 25-CAB80, 55-SHPCAB80, 55-TRPCAB80
  • 25-CB120, 55-SHPCB120, 55-TRPCB120
  • 25-CBEP, 55-SHPCBEP, 55-TRPCBEP
  • 25-CBPAH, 55-SHPCBPAH, 55-TRPCBPAH
  • 25-EP, 55-SHPEP, 55-TRPEP
  • 25-EPI, 55-SHPEPI, 55-TRPEPI
  • 25-IP, 55-SHPIP, 55-TRPIP
  • 25-PAH, 55-SHPAH, 55-TRPAH
  • 25-PDV, 55-SHP22, 55-TRP22
  • 25-PDVC, 55-SHP10, 55-SHP10L, 55-TRP10
  • 25-PI, 55-SHP20, 55-TRP20 (2006 and later production)
  • 25-PUF, 55-SHP240, 55-TRP240
  • 25-SSP01, 55-SHSSP01, 55-TRSSP01

If your model number does not appear in this list, verify the switch configuration in your stove's wiring diagram or service manual before ordering. Pre-2006 units of the same model name may use a different switch combination.

Also Needed? For a complete switch replacement on a 2006 and later unit, you will also need the PU-VS vacuum switch (sold separately). If your stove is a pre-2006 unit, you need (2) PU-VS switches instead.

Important Information
  • This switch is for 2006 and later Englander pellet stoves only. Pre-2006 models use two PU-VS switches and do not use the CU-VS.
  • The CU-VS and PU-VS are not identical and are not interchangeable. Installing two CU-VS switches or two PU-VS switches on a 2006+ unit is incorrect and may result in improper stove operation.
  • This listing is for one (1) CU-VS switch. The matching PU-VS switch is sold separately.
  • Before replacing the switch, inspect combustion blower operation and exhaust vent for blockages -- these are frequent root causes of vacuum switch fault codes.
  • Confirm your stove's exact model number and production year before ordering. Some model families span both pre- and post-2006 production with different switch requirements.
  • Pellet stove component replacement should be performed by a qualified technician or a confident DIY owner familiar with the stove's wiring and pneumatic circuits.
