Dometic OEM Brisk Air (Original Series) 115 VAC Direct Replacement Dometic 3108706.916 Universal Motor Kit -- Brisk Air Rooftop AC Restoration

When your Brisk Air RV air conditioner stops moving air -- or starts humming, vibrating, or tripping the breaker -- the motor and rotating components are usually the culprit. The Dometic 3108706.916 kit replaces everything that spins: dual-shaft motor, condenser fan blade, evaporator blower wheel, and run capacitor, plus the wiring hardware to tie it all back together. One kit, one repair, back to full cooling performance.

Complete Motor Replacement for Brisk Air RV Air Conditioners

The 3108706.916 is Dometic's universal motor kit engineered for the original Brisk Air series rooftop units. Unlike sourcing a motor alone and hoping the shaft lengths match, this kit supplies the correct dual-shaft PSC motor alongside matched rotating components -- the condenser fan blade and squirrel-cage blower wheel -- so airflow through both the condenser and evaporator coils is restored to factory specification.

Worn motor bearings cause vibration, noise, and reduced RPM. Bent or cracked fan blades unbalance the rotor and accelerate wear. Replacing only the motor while leaving damaged wheels shortchanges the repair. This kit addresses all three failure points in a single service call.

Full Kit in One Box

Motor, run capacitor, condenser fan blade, evaporator blower wheel, wire nuts, terminals, and a wire lead -- nothing else to order.

Correct Dual-Shaft Fit

Evaporator shaft at 3-13/16" and condenser shaft at 2-1/2" match the OEM mounting geometry of original Brisk Air units exactly.

Reduced Vibration

Fresh motor bearings and factory-balanced wheels lower noise and vibration compared to a worn-out original running past its service life.

Restore Designed Airflow

Matched blade and blower wheel diameters bring condenser and evaporator CFM back to the values the unit was engineered to deliver.

What Is Included

  • (1) Dual-shaft PSC fan motor, 115 VAC
  • (1) Run capacitor (matched to motor F requirement)
  • (1) Condenser fan blade -- approximately 10 to 10-1/2" overall diameter
  • (1) Evaporator blower wheel (squirrel cage) -- 8" OD x 6-3/4" ID x 3" wide
  • (3) Wire nuts
  • (5) Crimp terminals
  • (1) Pre-terminated wire lead
  • Installation instructions
Complete Service Advantage: Replacing the blower wheel and fan blade alongside the motor restores designed CFM on both the condenser and evaporator sides. Leaving worn rotating parts in place after a motor swap is the most common reason a repaired Brisk Air still underperforms.

Fitment and Compatibility

This kit is designed for the original Brisk Air series rooftop air conditioners. It is not compatible with Brisk Air II units, which use a different motor mounting configuration and shaft geometry.

  • Fits: Dometic Brisk Air (original/early series) rooftop units
  • Does NOT fit: Brisk Air II, Penguin, Penguin II, or Duo-Therm Comfort Control series
  • Verify shaft lengths against your existing motor before ordering: evaporator shaft 3-13/16", condenser shaft 2-1/2"
  • Condenser fan blade diameter should be confirmed at your unit -- most early Brisk Air use 10 to 10-1/2"; a small subset used a 9" blade
Before You Order: Pull your existing motor and measure both shaft lengths and the fan blade tip-to-tip diameter. The 3108706.916 kit covers the majority of original Brisk Air builds, but blade size can vary by production run. If your existing blade measures 9", confirm kit compatibility before purchase.

Installation Overview

This is a rooftop service job. Standard practice is to remove the AC shroud from the roof, disconnect the existing motor wiring at the terminal block or wire leads, unbolt the motor mounting bracket, and slide out the old motor and wheels. The new motor installs in reverse order. The run capacitor mounts in the same bracket location as the original.

  • Shore power or generator must be off and AC unit fully de-energized before starting
  • Capacitors retain a charge after power is removed -- discharge before touching terminals
  • Label existing wiring before disconnecting to ensure correct polarity and speed-tap connections on reassembly
  • Torque fan blade hub set screw securely to prevent blade slippage at operating RPM
  • Test unit operation before reinstalling shroud
Maintenance Tip: While the shroud is off, clean debris from both the condenser and evaporator coil fins and inspect the drain pan gasket. These are items that cannot be accessed during normal seasonal maintenance and are frequently neglected.

Important Information
  • Always disconnect shore power and shut off the generator before servicing any rooftop AC component. Confirm power is off at the breaker panel, not just at the thermostat.
  • Run capacitors store electrical charge. Discharge the capacitor using an insulated resistor or discharge tool before handling -- do not short the terminals directly.
  • This kit fits the original Brisk Air series only. It does NOT fit Brisk Air II units. Confirm your model before ordering.
  • Verify condenser fan blade diameter on your specific unit before install -- most original Brisk Air units use a 10 to 10-1/2" blade, but some production runs used a 9" blade.
  • Fan blade hub set screws must be fully tightened before powering the unit. A loose blade at operating RPM will damage the shroud and the motor shaft.
  • This kit is a DIY-suitable repair for experienced RV owners comfortable with rooftop work and basic electrical connections. If you are not familiar with capacitor discharge procedures, have a qualified technician perform the service.
