Kwikee Miniature Rectangle Door Switch Kit -- White
Restore automatic door-triggered extension and retraction on compatible Kwikee electric RV entry steps. This white miniature rectangular magnetic-type door switch mounts to the coach door frame and reconnects the signal that tells your steps when to move.
Kwikee electric steps rely on a door switch signal to extend when you open the coach door and retract when you close it. When that switch fails -- whether from corrosion, a broken wire, or physical damage -- your steps stop responding and often stay retracted or must be cycled manually. The Lippert 374198 is the factory-style replacement that restores that automatic behavior without rewiring or controller changes.
This kit uses a miniature rectangular magnetic sensor design matched to the geometry of compatible Kwikee door frames. The white housing blends with standard RV door trim. Two pre-attached lead wires connect directly to the existing step harness, keeping installation straightforward for anyone comfortable with basic 12V wiring.
Contactless magnetic actuation -- no physical plunger to wear out or jam with dirt and debris at the door jamb.
Pre-wired leads connect directly to the existing Kwikee step harness. No additional pigtail or adapter needed for compatible systems.
Matches standard white RV door frames and trim. Low-profile rectangular housing sits flush against the door jamb.
Designed to Lippert / Kwikee specifications. Replaces a failed or damaged door switch on compatible step systems without controller modifications.
The door switch lives in one of the harshest spots on the coach -- the door jamb -- where it sees repeated mechanical stress from door cycles, road vibration, moisture intrusion, and temperature swings. A failed switch typically causes steps to stay retracted regardless of door position, or to stop responding intermittently. Replacing the switch is almost always faster and less expensive than replacing the full step assembly or controller.
This switch is sized and wired for specific Kwikee step models that use the miniature rectangle door switch format. Check your existing switch housing shape (rectangular vs. round or plunger-style) and your step model number -- found on a label on the step motor housing or the step frame -- against Lippert's application guide for part 374198. Using the wrong switch type on a step system can result in a switch that physically fits but does not signal correctly.
After installation, apply a light coat of dielectric grease to the wire connections and around the switch housing perimeter to slow moisture ingress. Inspect the switch and its alignment once a season -- door sag over time can shift the magnet out of the switch's sensing range, causing intermittent operation that mimics a failing switch.
If your steps are not responding even after replacing the door switch, consider checking the Kwikee step controller, the step relay, and the motor harness.
