Camco Stainless Steel Mesh Pack of 3 Camco 42148 RS500 Flying Insect Screen -- 19-3/4" x 1-5/16", for Norcold and Most RV Refrigerator Vents

Stainless steel mesh screens that slip over exterior RV refrigerator vent louvers to block wasps, mud daubers, birds, and rodents before they nest and cause overheating damage. Fits 19-3/4" louver openings including Norcold refrigerators. Three screens per pack. Does NOT fit Dometic refrigerator vents.

Stop Nests Before They Kill Your RV Fridge

Wasps and mud daubers are drawn to the warm air exhausting from RV refrigerator vent openings. Left unchecked, they pack the vent cavity with mud nests and debris that block airflow, force the cooling unit to overheat, and can result in costly refrigerator failure -- or a fire hazard in the vent compartment. The Camco 42148 RS500 is a direct, low-cost defense against that risk.

Each screen is formed from fine stainless steel mesh stretched over a rigid frame sized to cover the horizontal louver slots on a standard RV refrigerator vent panel. Installation takes minutes and requires no tools on most vent styles -- the screens press or clip into the louver openings from the outside.

Stainless Steel Mesh

Corrosion-resistant woven wire mesh that holds up to road vibration, rain, and UV exposure without rusting or sagging.

3 Screens Per Pack

Covers both upper and lower refrigerator vent openings on a typical two-vent installation with a spare for future use.

Tool-Free Install

Designed to press into the louver slots of compatible vent panels without drilling, cutting, or adhesive on most installations.

Norcold Fit

Sized specifically for 19-3/4" Norcold refrigerator vent louver openings and most other brand refrigerator vents of the same dimension.

Why This Fix Matters

Mud dauber and wasp nests in refrigerator vent cavities are one of the leading causes of RV refrigerator overheating failures. A single season of neglect can result in blocked burner flues, failed cooling units, and voided warranties. Installing vent screens is a five-minute preventive step that costs a fraction of a service call.

What Fits and What Does Not

The Camco 42148 is designed for refrigerator vent louver openings that measure 19-3/4" wide with a slot height of approximately 1-5/16". This dimension matches the standard vent panels found on many Norcold refrigerator models and other non-Dometic RV refrigerators using the same vent panel format.

  • Compatible: Norcold refrigerator vents with 19-3/4" louver openings; other RV refrigerator brands using the same vent panel dimension
  • Not compatible: Dometic refrigerator vent panels -- Dometic uses a different louver geometry and requires a different Camco screen part number
  • Verify your louver opening width before ordering. Measure the actual slot opening, not the outer vent cover panel.

Dometic Owners: Wrong Part

The 42148 does NOT fit Dometic refrigerator vents. Dometic refrigerators require a different screen size. Check the Camco lineup for the correct Dometic-compatible part before ordering.

Installation Notes

On most compatible vent panels, each screen slides or presses into the louver slots from the exterior side of the rig. No drilling is required. Screens should seat flush against the louver opening so insects cannot enter around the edges. Check the fit of each screen after installation and re-seat if gaps are visible.

  • Clean the louver area before installation to remove existing debris or old nest material
  • Inspect screens each spring before camping season and after extended storage
  • Replace any screen showing holes, corrosion, or loose mesh that could allow insects to pass through

Seasonal Maintenance Tip

Before your first trip each season, remove the vent screens and clear out any accumulated debris, insect eggs, or old nest fragments from the vent cavity. Reinstall the screens and confirm the refrigerator vents are drawing air freely before loading food and heading out.

Important Information

  • This screen does NOT fit Dometic refrigerator vents. Using the wrong size screen can leave gaps that allow insect entry.
  • Verify your vent louver slot measures 19-3/4" wide before ordering. Measure the actual opening, not the outer cover panel.
  • Screens must seat flush with no edge gaps. A poorly fitted screen provides no pest protection.
  • Inspect and clear vent cavity of existing nests before installing screens. Installing over active nests will not resolve an existing infestation.
  • Check screens after extended highway driving -- road vibration can dislodge screens on some vent panel styles.
  • Replace damaged or corroded screens promptly. A single breach in the mesh is sufficient for mud daubers to enter and nest.
