A compact wire-on replacement plug that fits completely inside your RV's cable hatch door so it can be closed and latched during travel -- no more plug flopping around or getting caught in the compartment door. Same NEMA TT-30P configuration as the full-size Camco 55242, just in a smaller, travel-friendly profile.
When the male end of your 30-amp shore power cord gets cracked, burned, or otherwise damaged, replacing the entire cord is expensive and unnecessary. The Camco 55283 PowerGrip Mini lets you cut back to clean wire and wire on a fresh plug yourself -- no special tools beyond a screwdriver and wire stripper.
The "Mini" designation is the key differentiator here. The compact body is sized to fit completely inside a standard RV cable hatch compartment so the hatch door closes fully with the plug tucked inside during transport. If your rig's hatch has ever refused to close over the full-size 55242, this is the plug you need.
Smaller body than the full-size 55242 -- fits inside the RV cable hatch door so it can be closed and latched during travel.
Screw-terminal construction lets you connect your existing cord conductors directly. No pigtail adapters needed.
NEMA TT-30P two-blade-plus-ground pattern mates with any 30-amp campground pedestal or extension cord inlet.
Textured grip body makes it easier to seat and remove the plug even with wet or gloved hands.
The standard full-size 30-amp plug often prevents the cable hatch door from latching when the cord is stored inside. The 55283 Mini body is dimensioned specifically to clear the hatch door frame. This keeps the compartment sealed against road debris, rain, and insects while traveling.
Standard 30-amp shore power cord uses three conductors: black (hot), white (neutral), and green (ground). The TT-30P plug has three corresponding terminals inside the body. Strip each conductor to approximately 3/4 inch, insert into the correct terminal, and tighten the screw securely. The green terminal connects to the ground (bare copper or green wire). Always verify conductor seating before reassembling the plug body.
The 55283 Mini and the Camco 55242 are both NEMA TT-30P male plugs and are electrically equivalent. The 55283 has a shorter, narrower body. If your current installation uses the full-size 55242 and hatch clearance is not an issue, either plug is compatible. Choose the 55283 specifically when hatch-door closure during travel is the priority.
