Southwire 41301 30 Amp Reverse Polarity Automatic Transfer Switch, 120V RV Shore Power

Southwire 41301 30 Amp Reverse Polarity Automatic Transfer Switch, 120V RV Shore Power

30 amp automatic transfer switch for 120V RV shore power and generator power systems. Provides generator-dominant automatic switching with reverse polarity and open ground protection, LED indication, mechanical interlocking contactors, and time delay at power-up.

About the Southwire 41301 Transfer Switch

The Southwire 41301 is a 30 amp automatic transfer switch designed for RVs with a 120V shore power source and onboard generator. It automatically transfers the RV’s AC power source between shore power and generator power, helping simplify power source management in compatible RV electrical systems.

This model is generator dominant. When both shore and generator power are available, it transfers to generator power after a 30-second delay. When the generator shuts down, it returns to shore power after approximately 3-4 seconds.

🔁 Automatic Transfer

Switches between RV shore power and generator power automatically

⚡ 30A 120V

Designed for 30 amp RV electrical systems using 120V AC service

🛡️ Polarity Protection

Provides reverse polarity and open ground protection

💡 LED Indicator

Includes LED indication for reverse polarity and open ground protection

Key Features & Benefits

  • 30 Amp Automatic Transfer Switch: Transfers RV power between shore power and generator power sources
  • 120V RV Electrical Use: Designed for 30 amp RV electrical systems with 120V AC service
  • Generator Dominant Operation: Generator power takes priority when both power sources are available
  • 30-Second Generator Delay: Transfers to generator power after the generator is energized and the time delay completes
  • 3-4 Second Shore Return Delay: Returns to shore power shortly after generator power shuts down
  • Reverse Polarity Protection: Helps detect unsafe reverse polarity conditions
  • Open Ground Protection: Helps detect unsafe open ground conditions
  • LED Fault Indicator: Provides visual indication for reverse polarity and open ground protection
  • Mechanical Interlocking Contactors: Helps prevent shore and generator contactors from engaging at the same time
  • Dual Contactor Arrangement: Designed for automatic switching between two AC power sources
  • No Surge Protection: This model does not provide surge suppression or full EMS-style protection

🚐 Common RV Applications

The Southwire 41301 is commonly used in RVs with a 30 amp shore power system and onboard generator. It is intended for hardwired installation between the shore power input, generator output, and RV main AC distribution panel.

This model is an automatic transfer switch, not a manual switch, adapter, transformer, or surge protector.

📋 Installation Notes

This transfer switch is hardwired between the RV’s shore power input, generator output, and main AC distribution panel. Verify 30 amp service rating, 120V wiring, conductor size, neutral/ground routing, generator compatibility, enclosure space, and strain relief requirements before installation.

This model includes reverse polarity and open ground protection but does not include surge protection. If surge, low/high voltage, open neutral, miswired pedestal, or full EMS-style protection is needed, use a separate surge/EMS device or choose a Southwire model that specifically includes those protections.

⚠️ Electrical Safety

Transfer switch installation involves 120V AC power, shore power, generator power, high-current wiring, neutral/ground routing, and RV electrical code requirements.

Installation should be performed by a qualified RV technician or electrician familiar with 30 amp RV electrical systems. Disconnect shore power, generator power, inverter power, and battery power before servicing.
