OEM Suburban Suburban 525019 Dual-Sense Igniter Electrode – NT Series Furnaces
Direct OEM replacement 3-prong dual-sense igniter electrode for Suburban NT-24, NT-30, NT-34, P-30S, and P-40S RV furnaces with serial numbers BELOW 920500001. Separate ignition and flame sensing probes for reliable operation. Gasket not included.

Overview

The Suburban 525019 is a genuine OEM replacement dual-sense igniter electrode for larger NT series and P-series Suburban RV furnaces. This 3-prong electrode features separate probes for spark ignition and flame sensing, providing reliable furnace operation.OEM Suburban3-ProngDual-Sense

Unlike single-sense electrodes that use one probe for both functions, this dual-sense design has two wires to the electrode – one for the high-voltage ignition spark and one for flame sensing. This design was used on furnaces with serial numbers below 920500001. Later furnaces with higher serial numbers switched to single-sense electrodes.

⚠️ Gasket Not Included – Order Separately

This electrode does NOT include the burner access door gasket. When replacing the igniter electrode, you should also replace the gasket to ensure a proper seal. Order the gasket separately:

Key Features

  • OEM Suburban replacement – genuine manufacturer quality
  • Dual-sense design – separate ignition and flame sensing probes
  • 3-prong configuration – two wires connect to electrode
  • Direct drop-in replacement – no modifications needed
  • High-voltage spark generation – reliable ignition
  • Dedicated flame sensing – monitors burner status
  • Ceramic insulator – withstands high heat
  • Durable metal probes – long service life

Compatible Furnace Models

This electrode fits the following Suburban furnace models with serial numbers BELOW 920500001:

NT Series (24,000-40,000 BTU)
NT-24NT-24S
NT-24SPNT-30
NT-30SNT-30SP
NT-34NT-34S
NT-34SPNT-40
P Series (Park Model)
P-30SP-40S

🚫 CRITICAL: Serial Number Verification Required

This dual-sense electrode is ONLY for furnaces with serial numbers BELOW 920500001.

If your furnace has a serial number ABOVE 920500001, you need the 525029 single-sense electrode instead.

How to read Suburban serial numbers: Furnaces manufactured after January 1990 have 9-digit serial numbers. The first 2 digits indicate the year of manufacture. For example:
• Serial number 912000060 = manufactured in 1991
• Serial number 920500001 = manufactured in 1992

Note: Even though 912000060 is numerically higher than 920500001, it represents an earlier manufacture date (1991 vs 1992).

Dual-Sense vs Single-Sense Electrodes

Suburban furnaces have used different electrode designs over the years:

Prongs 3-Prong (2 wires) 2-Prong (1 wire)

⚠️ Board Replacement Note

If your furnace's control board has been upgraded to a newer model (like the 521099), you may need the 2-prong single-sense electrode (525029) instead of this 3-prong dual-sense electrode. Updated control boards use the single-sense design.

How the Dual-Sense Electrode Works

The dual-sense electrode performs two separate functions via its two probes:

  • Ignition Probe: Receives high-voltage signal from the control board to create a spark that ignites the propane at the burner
  • Flame Sensing Probe: Uses flame rectification to detect the presence of the burner flame and sends a confirmation signal back to the control board

If the flame sensing probe doesn't detect a flame within approximately 7-10 seconds of the gas valve opening, the control board shuts off the gas and enters lockout mode for safety.

Signs Your Igniter Electrode Needs Replacement

  • Furnace won't ignite – clicks but no flame
  • Weak or no spark at electrode
  • Furnace starts then shuts off after a few seconds (flame sense failure)
  • Frequent lockouts requiring thermostat reset
  • Cracked or damaged ceramic insulator
  • Heavy carbon buildup on electrode probes
  • Corroded or pitted electrode tips
  • Intermittent operation – works sometimes, not others

🔧 Installation Tips

1. Disconnect power – turn off furnace and disconnect 12V supply
2. Shut off propane – close tank valve
3. Remove burner access door – locate electrode
4. Disconnect wire(s) – note positions before removing (2 wires on this electrode)
5. Remove mounting screw(s) – extract old electrode
6. Inspect and clean burner – remove any debris
7. Install new electrode – ensure proper gap (~1/8") to burner
8. Replace gasket – use new 071076 gasket
9. Reconnect wires – match original positions
10. Test operation – verify proper ignition and flame sensing

Troubleshooting Before Replacement

Before replacing the electrode, check these common issues:

  • Clean the electrode – carbon buildup can prevent proper spark/sensing. Gently clean probes with fine sandpaper or emery cloth.
  • Check electrode gap – should be approximately 1/8" from burner
  • Inspect wire connections – loose or corroded connections cause failures
  • Test control board – a failing DSI board won't send proper voltage
  • Verify propane supply – empty tank or closed valve mimics ignition failure
  • Check sail switch – most common failure point on Suburban furnaces
