Suburban blower motors use a flat machined onto one or both shafts to secure the blower wheels via set screws. Before removing your old motor, note which side the flat faces on each shaft and how the blower wheels are oriented. The 521232 uses the same shaft geometry as the original, but wheel-to-flat alignment must be duplicated during reassembly. Mark your wheels with a paint pen before pulling them off the old motor shafts to make reinstallation straightforward.
The Suburban 521232 is the current OEM part number that supersedes the earlier 233043 and 521255 part numbers. If your furnace records or a previous invoice list either of those numbers, the 521232 is the correct current replacement. All three numbers refer to functionally identical motors for this furnace family.
Motor replacement requires working inside the furnace cabinet. Always shut off the LP gas supply at the tank and disconnect the 12V power feed to the furnace before opening the cabinet. Allow the furnace to cool completely if it has recently operated. Do not attempt to run the furnace with the combustion air wheel removed -- the burner will not operate safely without proper combustion airflow.
A common mistake is replacing the control board when the motor is the actual failed component. Before ordering either part, do a quick 12V bench test on the motor: disconnect the motor from the board and apply 12V DC directly to the motor leads. A good motor will spin up cleanly and quietly. A motor that hums but does not spin, runs roughly, or does not start at all under direct power is the confirmed failed component. This test takes about two minutes and saves the cost of an unnecessary board replacement.
