ValterraLead-Free BrassMade in USAValterra P23510LFVP Brass Blow-Out Plug with Quick Connect

The fast, reliable way to purge water from your RV freshwater plumbing before freezing temperatures hit. This lead-free brass blow-out plug threads into your city water inlet and accepts a standard air compressor quick connect, letting you push residual water out of every line in minutes.

Clear Your Lines Before Winter -- Without the Guesswork

Skipping proper water line purging is one of the most common and costly RV winterization mistakes. Even small amounts of standing water left in supply lines, pump fittings, or low-point drains can freeze, expand, and crack plastic fittings or burst copper connections. The Valterra P23510LFVP removes the guesswork by giving you a dedicated, properly threaded connection point to drive compressed air through the entire freshwater system.

Unlike improvised fittings or tape-wrapped adapters, this plug is machined from solid lead-free brass -- durable enough to thread in and out season after season without stripping the city water inlet threads on your rig. The integrated quick connect coupler mates with the standard 1/4-inch industrial-style quick connect fittings found on most portable and shop air compressors, so there is no hunting for adapters.

Lead-Free Brass Construction

Machined from lead-free brass for durability and potable-water safety. Resists corrosion and threads in cleanly season after season.

Quick Connect Fitting

Integrated quick connect coupler mates with standard 1/4-inch industrial air compressor fittings -- no loose adapters needed.

Standard City Water Inlet Thread

Threads directly into the standard 3/4-inch GHT (garden hose thread) city water inlet found on most RVs, campers, and motorhomes.

Made in the USA

Manufactured domestically. Backed by Valterra's limited 90-day manufacturer warranty.

How to Use This Blow-Out Plug

The blow-out method is typically the first step in a complete RV winterization -- either as a standalone method in mild climates or in combination with RV antifreeze for colder regions.

  • Turn off the water heater and allow it to cool completely before beginning.
  • Open all low-point drain valves and the water heater drain to release the bulk of standing water.
  • Thread the P23510LFVP into the city water inlet (hand-tight -- do not over-torque brass fittings).
  • Connect your air compressor quick connect line to the plug's coupler.
  • Set compressor pressure to 30-50 PSI -- do not exceed 50 PSI in freshwater lines to avoid damaging fittings or the water pump.
  • Open each faucet one at a time (hot and cold separately) until only air exits, then close and move to the next.
  • Include the toilet flush, outside shower, and any icemaker or washing machine lines.
  • Disconnect the plug and store it with your winterization kit for next season.
Works With Most RVs -- The 3/4-inch GHT thread is the industry standard for city water inlets on travel trailers, fifth wheels, Class A, B, and C motorhomes, and truck campers. If your rig accepts a standard garden hose at the city water connection, this plug fits.
Blow-Out Method vs. Antifreeze Only -- Blowing out lines first removes the bulk of water so you use significantly less RV antifreeze if you follow up with the pink-stuff method. Many full-timers and seasonal campers use the blow-out plug alone in climates that do not drop below about 20 deg F for extended periods. In harsher climates, combine both methods for full protection.
Air Pressure Limit -- Keep compressor output at 30-50 PSI when purging RV water lines. Higher pressure can damage plastic fittings, pop off quick-connect joints inside the plumbing, or stress the city water inlet's internal check valve. A small pancake compressor set to 40 PSI is ideal for this job.
Winterization Tip -- After blowing out all lines, add a small amount of RV antifreeze to each drain trap (sink P-traps, shower drain, toilet bowl) to protect against freeze damage in the trap itself -- compressed air alone will not displace water held in a P-trap by design.

Important Information
  • Do not exceed 50 PSI when blowing out RV freshwater lines. Excess pressure can crack fittings, damage the water pump, or dislodge internal plumbing connections.
  • Always turn off and allow the water heater to cool before winterizing -- blowing hot air through a pressurized water heater tank is a safety hazard.
  • Thread the plug in by hand only. Over-torquing a brass fitting into a plastic city water inlet housing can crack the inlet body.
  • The blow-out method alone may not fully winterize P-traps, toilet bowls, or water heater tanks -- follow up with RV antifreeze in those areas as needed.
  • This plug is intended for seasonal winterization use, not for permanent installation or continuous pressurized service.
  • Inspect the quick connect coupler and brass threads before each use. Retire the plug if threads show significant wear or the coupler does not lock positively.

How to Use:
1. Drain your water lines as much as possible.
2. When water is no longer flowing, make sure all faucets are open.
3. Thread the blow-out plug into your city water inlet.
4. Attach an oil-less compressor and turn on at a low setting, slowly increasing the pressure. Do not exceed 50 PSI.
5. Once your lines are empty, remove the blow-out plug.
