The Valterra A04-0338BK is the replacement end cap and retention strap for Valterra's adjustable EZ sewer hose carriers — the tubular storage carriers mounted to the RV frame or bumper that store the sewer hose during travel. The cap seals the open end of the carrier tube to keep the hose contained and protected, and the rubber strap adds a secondary retention layer to prevent the cap from vibrating loose on the road.
The cap uses a quarter-turn twist-lock mechanism — insert, twist, and it's secure. A vent in the cap allows air circulation inside the carrier to reduce odor buildup. The A04-0338BK is the correct replacement for Valterra adjustable EZ hose carriers manufactured after October 2019. Cap: Align the cap with the open end of the carrier tube and press in, then rotate a quarter turn until it locks. To remove, turn back a quarter turn and pull out. Strap: Loop the rubber strap around the cap and carrier tube to hold the cap securely against vibration during travel. The strap is a secondary retention measure — the twist-lock holds the cap; the strap keeps it there on rough roads. No tools required for installation or removal.
Valterra changed the cap design on their EZ hose carriers around October/November 2019. The A04-0338BK fits carriers made after October 2019. If your carrier was made before that, the correct replacement is A04-0161BK — the two caps use different twist-lock mechanisms and are not interchangeable. If unsure which you have, compare the shape of your existing cap to photos of both part numbers before ordering.
