Stop replacing fluorescent tubes and ballasts in your RV. These Valterra LED strip inserts drop directly into existing T-8 fluorescent light housings already installed in your rig, converting them to low-draw, long-life LED output without buying new fixtures. Two strips are included -- enough to retrofit a single dual-tube fixture or two single-tube units in one order.
T-8 fluorescent fixtures were the standard interior lighting choice in RVs for decades -- travel trailers, fifth wheels, Class A and Class C motorhomes, and toy haulers all shipped with them. The problem is that fluorescent tubes are fragile, ballasts fail, and the 12V inverter circuitry draws more power than LEDs for the same output. Valterra engineered the DG75102VP to solve all three issues at once.
Each strip replaces the fluorescent tube inside the existing T-8 housing. The LED board mounts into the same slot the tube occupied, connects to the existing 12V wiring, and delivers bright, even, white light immediately. No rewiring, no new fixture, no tools beyond a basic screwdriver. The result is lower amp draw on your coach batteries, reduced heat output inside the rig, and a light source that will outlast the original fluorescent by a wide margin.
Designed to fit inside existing T-8 RV fluorescent housings without cutting, drilling, or replacing the fixture shell.
Runs directly off the coach 12V DC system -- no inverter, no ballast, no additional wiring harness required.
Two LED strip assemblies per package. Retrofit a dual-tube fixture completely or update two separate single-tube fixtures at once.
LED technology draws significantly fewer amps than fluorescent equivalents, extending battery life during dry camping and boondocking.
The T-8 fluorescent tube format became common in RV interiors because the long, even light spread suited slide-outs, kitchen galley areas, and ceiling strips in larger coaches. However, RV fluorescent setups run on 12V DC converted through a small ballast, and those ballasts are a common failure point. Vibration from road travel loosens connections, cracks tube end caps, and degrades ballast performance over time. Replacing just the tube often doesn't solve flickering or no-light conditions if the ballast has failed.
The Valterra DG75102VP bypasses the ballast entirely. The LED strip connects directly to 12V DC, eliminating the ballast from the circuit. If your current fixture has been flickering or failing to start in cold weather, this retrofit addresses the root cause rather than just swapping one tube for another.
These strips are designed for the standard RV T-8 fluorescent fixture format. The 18-inch length matches the common 18-inch T-8 tube (T8/G13 base format) used in shorter RV ceiling fixtures, galley lights, and under-cabinet strip lighting. Before ordering, measure the interior length of your existing tube from end to end to confirm the 18-inch fit.
Installation requires no special tools and is well within the ability of any RV owner comfortable with basic 12V wiring. General process:
Valterra's DG-series LED lighting products are designed specifically for the 12V RV interior environment. The line covers replacement strips, dome light conversions, and puck-style LEDs, all engineered to the voltage tolerances and vibration resistance requirements of mobile applications. The DG75102VP sits in the retrofit segment of the lineup -- purpose-built to modernize existing fluorescent fixtures rather than requiring full fixture replacement, keeping installation cost and complexity low for the end user.
