500 lb capacity mobility scooter/wheelchair carrier. 58.375" x 32.75" tray. 61" center-folding ramp included. 13 tie-down slots. Tilts up. 120 lbs. Made in USA.
The VersaHaul VH-MS-XL is a heavy-duty mobility scooter and wheelchair carrier designed for safe, reliable transport while traveling in your RV, SUV, truck, or van. Unlike lightweight carriers held together with rivets, the VH-MS-XL is constructed from durable steel with robust tie-down points, providing peace of mind that your mobility device will arrive safely at your destination.
This XL carrier accommodates large or small scooters with a spacious 58.375" x 32.75" tray and 500 lb capacity. The included 61" center-folding ramp features spring pull locks that hold the ramp in an upright position when not in use, or the ramp folds flat for storage. The ramp is also removable, making the carrier multi-purpose. The carrier tray tilts up when not in use, reducing rear overhang. With 13 integrated tie-down slots, anti-tilt locking device, powder coat finish, and Class III/IV hitch compatibility (2" receiver), the VH-MS-XL provides professional-grade performance. Weighing 120 lbs and made in the USA, it's protected by US Patents (US D528,497 S, 20070052206) and patent pending.
Hitch Requirements: • Class III Hitch: Typically rated for 500 lbs tongue weight • Class IV Hitch: Typically rated for 1,000 lbs tongue weight • Receiver Size: Standard 2" receiver Important Hitch Considerations: • Low Hitches: Main tube extends at same level as hitch. Very low hitches may not work properly - verify ground clearance. • Recessed Hitches: Will prevent carrier tray from folding vertically (tilting up feature will not work). Vehicle Requirements: • RVs: Compatible with motorhomes and RV chassis • SUVs, Trucks, Vans: Suitable for vehicles with adequate capacity • Always verify your vehicle's tongue weight rating and payload capacity • Total tongue weight = VH-MS-XL (120 lbs) + mobility device (up to 500 lbs) = up to 620 lbs Ground Clearance: Verify adequate ground clearance for ramp deployment. Consider ramp angle when loading/unloading mobility device. Insufficient clearance may prevent safe operation.

Download the VersaHaul VH-MS-XL Folding Ramp Scooter Carrier Instruction ManualPre-Installation Requirements: 1. Verify mobility device weighs 500 lbs or less 2. Measure mobility device to ensure it fits within 58.375" x 32.75" tray 3. Check vehicle tongue weight rating (must handle 620 lbs minimum) 4. Verify ground clearance for ramp deployment 5. Confirm hitch is NOT recessed (recessed hitches prevent carrier tray from tilting up) 6. Review complete VH-MS XL instruction booklet Installation Overview: Insert Class III stinger sleeve (2") into vehicle's hitch receiver and secure with hitch pin. Attach carrier tray to stinger sleeve. Install anti-tilt locking device per instructions to eliminate wobble. Attach ramp bracket to carrier tray. Install safety lanyard per instructions. Ramp Operation: The 61" center-folding ramp features spring pull locks for convenient operation: • Loading Position: Lower ramp into flat loading position • Upright Storage: Fold ramp up - spring pull locks hold ramp in upright position • Flat Storage: Fold ramp completely flat when not in use • Removable: Ramp can be removed entirely for multi-purpose cargo transport Carrier Tilt Feature: When not in use, carrier tray tilts up to reduce rear overhang and improve ground clearance. This feature WILL NOT work with recessed hitches. Loading Your Mobility Device: 1. Position ramp in flat loading position 2. Ensure ramp is stable and secure 3. Slowly drive or roll mobility device up ramp onto carrier tray 4. Center mobility device on 58.375" x 32.75" tray 5. Turn off mobility device and engage brake 6. Secure mobility device using tie-down straps through 13 tie-down slots 7. Verify all tie-downs are tight and mobility device is stable 8. Fold ramp into upright position (spring pull locks engage) Driving with Loaded Carrier: • Accelerate gradually - 620 lbs tongue weight affects handling • Brake earlier - stopping distance increases • Turn carefully - wider turns required • Watch ground clearance - avoid steep driveways, speed bumps • Monitor constantly - check mobility device remains secured • Stop periodically to verify tie-downs remain tight Important Safety Notes: • DO NOT exceed 500 lbs capacity • ALWAYS use tie-down straps through multiple slots • ALWAYS turn off mobility device and engage brake before securing • Use safety lanyard as instructed • NEVER exceed vehicle's tongue weight rating
