The Arcon 19758 is a simple plug-and-check device — no configuration or installation required: 1. Plug the Arcon into the pedestal — connect the surge protector's male plug into the campground 30-amp power outlet 2. Check the indicator lights — refer to the light pattern guide (Figure 2 in the manual). All three indicator lights should be lit for a safe, properly wired pedestal 3. If lights indicate a fault — do not connect your RV. Move to a different pedestal or notify campground staff 4. Connect your RV power cord to the Arcon's outlet once indicator lights confirm safe power 5. Secure with lock & cable — thread the 36" cable through the pedestal and lock to prevent theft Note: The Arcon 19758 has no serviceable parts and no reset button. If the unit has absorbed a large surge or indicator lights no longer illuminate after confirming good power at the source, the unit should be replaced.
The Arcon 19758 is an excellent entry-level defense against pedestal power issues. It's important to know what it covers: It DOES protect against: Power surges, lightning strike voltage spikes, and absorbs surge energy across Hot, Ground, and Neutral circuits. It also alerts you to low voltage and miswired pedestals before you plug in. It does NOT include: Automatic high/low voltage shutoff, a digital display, AC frequency monitoring, or automatic power restoration — features found on full Energy Management Systems (EMS). Also note: As a portable unit, it is exposed at the pedestal and relies on the included lock & cable for theft deterrence. It is a sacrificial device — large surges can degrade or destroy it, which is by design. Once indicator lights no longer illuminate after confirming good shore power, replace the unit. Before connecting your RV, check the indicator light pattern on the Arcon: All 3 lights ON — Power is safe and properly wired. Connect your RV. Any other pattern — A fault has been detected. Do NOT connect your RV. Common issues: • Open Ground — Missing ground wire at pedestal • Reverse Polarity — Hot and neutral wires reversed • Low Voltage — Pedestal voltage below ~106V If a fault is detected, try a different pedestal or notify campground staff. Never bypass the surge protector to connect to a faulted outlet.
