The Camco 04363 is a 1500W 120V High Watt Density (HWD) universal flange water heater element — a direct replacement for the heating element in most RV, marine, and residential electric water heaters. The universal flange design means this single element can replace round head, flat head, or existing universal bolt-on elements (4-bolt configuration with 2 diagonal bolt hole centers), covering the widest possible range of water heaters without needing to identify the exact original element style.
The element is built from copper tubing with a magnesium oxide fill and nickel plating for corrosion resistance. It mounts via a 1-11/2" NPSM steel bushing and requires a minimum tank diameter of 9". UL listed, with a complete gasket and installation instructions included. Compatible with most major brands of electric water heaters — American, AO Smith, Bradford White, Craftmaster, GE, GS Wood, Kenmore, Lochinvar, Maytag, Mor-Flo, Reliance, Richmond, Ruud, Sears, and State, among others. A failed heating element is the most common cause of an electric water heater producing no hot water or only lukewarm water. Test the element with a continuity tester or ohmmeter — a reading of infinity (open circuit) confirms the element has failed. Before replacing, also test the thermostat and high-temperature limit (ECO) switch, as these can fail independently and cause the same symptoms. The 04363 also works in residential water heaters — useful as a go-to replacement element for service calls across both RV and home water heaters.
