When your Class A motorhome is parked for weeks or months at a time, a quality cover is the difference between a rig that looks showroom-fresh and one that needs paint correction, mold remediation, and oxidation repair. The Gold Shield 5L uses a five-layer laminated fabric on the roof and a three-layer construction on the sides -- with a micro-porous film in each -- to block water, block UV, and still breathe enough to prevent the trapped moisture that destroys finishes from the inside out. Designed specifically for full-size Class A coaches from 37 to 40 feet, it accommodates up to three rooftop AC units and installs without tools.
Most universal RV covers fight a losing battle against large coaches: they billow in wind, collect water on the roof, and leave the rear cap or front cap exposed. The Gold Shield 5L is sized and engineered specifically for the 37-40 foot Class A footprint -- a cover length of 40.5 feet, 9 feet wide, and 10.33 feet tall -- so the fabric drapes properly over slide toppers, rooftop equipment, and the squared-off corners typical of diesel pushers and gas coaches alike.
The top layer is intentionally oversized, extending downward past the roofline to overlap the side panels. This overlap seam, reinforced with double-line stitching at every junction, eliminates the gap where wind-driven rain typically infiltrates lesser covers. Elastic hems at the front and rear corners pull the cover snug against the fascia and tail cap, while an adjustable buckle system underneath the coach removes slack and stops the cover from flagging in the wind.
Four polypropylene PLUS layers plus one micro-porous film layer. Blocks rain, UV, hail, and debris while allowing vapor to escape from beneath.
Two polypropylene PLUS layers and one micro-porous film layer on all sides. Prevents mildew and rot while maintaining breathability against slideouts and body panels.
Heavy-duty zippered panels let you access the coach door and compartments without removing the entire cover. Essential for rigs stored for extended periods.
Rooftop profile accommodates up to three air conditioners. No awkward bunching over shrouds or risk of cover damage from AC edges.
The term "5-ply" gets used loosely in the cover market. In the Gold Shield 5L, the five layers on the top panel serve distinct functions:
The three-layer side construction uses the same micro-porous film between two polypropylene PLUS layers. Sides see less UV and precipitation than the roof, so three layers provide the right balance of protection and packability without adding unnecessary bulk to a cover that already weighs 25 lbs.
A cover that lifts off or flaps in wind is worse than no cover: it abrades the finish, tears its own seams, and can damage adjacent property. The Gold Shield 5L uses four mechanisms to stay put:
Large RV covers on a parked coach present a low-visibility hazard in campgrounds, storage lots, and driveways at night. The Gold Shield 5L integrates reflective panels that catch headlights and other light sources, making the covered coach visible to drivers moving through tight storage rows or campground loops. This is a practical safety feature, not a marketing point, on a 40-foot object that is easy to clip in low-light conditions.
CarCover backs the Gold Shield 5L with a Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty. A patch kit is included in the box for field repairs -- small punctures or tears from tree limbs or sharp objects can be addressed immediately rather than waiting for a warranty claim. The included storage bag keeps the cover clean and compact when the coach is in use.
You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.
For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
