CarCover 5-Layer Top Lifetime Warranty Gold Shield 5L Class A RV Cover -- Fits 28 ft to 30 ft Motorhomes

The Gold Shield 5L is a premium all-weather cover engineered specifically for Class A motorhomes in the 28-to-30-foot range. With a five-layer top panel and a three-layer side panel construction built around a micro-porous breathable film, it blocks rain, snow, UV radiation, tree sap, bird droppings, and hail -- while still letting trapped moisture escape so your finish stays clean and mildew-free during long-term storage.

Heavy-Duty Storage Protection for Your Class A Investment

Class A motorhomes represent a significant investment, and leaving one uncovered -- even in a covered-storage lot -- exposes paint, seals, and roof materials to progressive UV degradation, water intrusion, and biological damage. The Gold Shield 5L was designed to address every one of those failure points in a single cover that two people can install without tools in under 30 minutes.

The cover dimensions are 30.5 ft long x 8.92 ft wide x 10.08 ft tall, giving it enough coverage to fully wrap most Class A coaches in the 28-30 ft range while the extended top panel drapes down the sides for added lateral protection.

5-Layer Top Construction

Four polypropylene PLUS layers surround one micro-porous film layer for maximum weather resistance on the roof -- the surface that takes the most abuse from sun, snow, and debris.

3-Layer Side Panels

Two polypropylene PLUS layers plus one micro-porous film layer on all sides. Lighter than the top but still fully waterproof and breathable -- keeps sidewalls and windows protected without trapping humidity.

Zippered Access Panels

Heavy-duty zippered panels let you enter the motorhome without removing the entire cover -- useful for seasonal check-ins, battery maintenance, or retrieving gear from storage bays.

Secure Fit System

Adjustable buckle system eliminates slack and resists wind lift. Elastic hems at front and rear corners conform to the coach body. Slip-seam design further reduces wind profile.

Fabric and Material Details

The Gold Shield 5L uses polypropylene PLUS as its structural layer -- a high-density non-woven fabric that resists tearing, puncture, and UV breakdown better than basic polypropylene. The micro-porous film interlayer is the key differentiator: it is hydrophobic on the outside (water beads and runs off) but microporous enough to allow water vapor to escape from the inside. This prevents the condensation and mildew growth that destroys paint and decals on covers that trap air.

  • Blocks over 98% of dirt and dust from reaching painted surfaces
  • UV-blocking construction reflects sunlight to help keep interior temperatures lower
  • Reflective panels on the cover enhance visibility around the stored rig at night
  • Double-line stitching at all stress points and panel junctions for long-term durability
Breathable, Not Just Water-Resistant

Many budget RV covers are simply waterproof tarps. The micro-porous film in the Gold Shield 5L allows water vapor to pass outward while blocking liquid water from entering -- the same principle used in quality outdoor apparel. This is critical for long-term storage where interior humidity must be able to escape.

Fit and Installation

This cover is sized for Class A motorhomes from 28 feet to 30 feet in overall length. The cover body measures 30.5 ft long to account for front and rear overhang, 8.92 ft wide, and 10.08 ft tall. Most standard Class A coaches in this length range fall within these envelope dimensions, but always verify your rig's actual length, width, and roofline height before ordering.

  • Accommodates up to three rooftop AC units via integrated cutouts or flexible fabric allowance
  • Ladder cap protects the cover fabric from sharp ladder rungs on the rear ladder
  • Gutter protection flaps shield rain gutters from abrading the cover material
  • Built-in roof vents allow passive airflow to reduce moisture and heat buildup under the cover
  • Weighted buckle system -- no tools required for installation or removal
Measure Before You Order

Measure your Class A from the front cap to the rear cap bumper at its longest point. Also confirm your roofline height including any roof-mounted AC units, antennas, or solar panels. This cover's 10.08 ft height rating is the maximum supported without stressing the fabric over sharp protrusions.

What Is Included

  • Gold Shield 5L Class A cover (30.5 ft x 8.92 ft x 10.08 ft)
  • Patch kit for field repairs to cuts or abrasions
  • Storage bag for compact off-season storage of the cover itself
Storage and Care Tips

When removing the cover, allow both the cover and the RV surface to dry before folding for storage. Store the cover in its included bag in a dry location away from direct sunlight. Inspect buckle straps and elastic hems each season and replace if elasticity is lost. A periodic rinse with fresh water (no harsh solvents) keeps the micro-porous film layer clear and functional.

Warranty

CarCover backs the Gold Shield 5L with a Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. The included patch kit lets you address minor field damage without voiding coverage.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • Confirm your Class A motorhome's actual length is between 28 ft and 30 ft before purchasing. Do not attempt to stretch the cover over a longer coach.
  • Maximum supported roofline height is 10.08 ft. Roof-mounted accessories (antennas, solar panels, vents) that create sharp protrusions above this height may damage the fabric.
  • This cover is designed for Class A motorhomes only. It is not engineered for Class B vans, Class C coaches, travel trailers, or fifth wheels.
  • Always wash and thoroughly dry the RV exterior before covering to prevent trapping abrasive particles or moisture against painted surfaces.
  • In high-wind conditions, verify all buckle straps are tensioned and secured. A loosely fitted cover can cause abrasion damage to decals and paint if it moves against the surface repeatedly.
  • Do not use the cover as a tarp or ground cloth. Abrasion damage from non-RV use is not covered under the warranty.
  • Patch kit is intended for minor cuts and punctures only. Significant tears at seams should be reported to CarCover for warranty evaluation.
Protecting your RV with a quality cover is essential for maintaining its value and longevity. RVs are significant investments that are often exposed to harsh weather conditions, making them susceptible to damage from corrosion, mold, and UV rays. Unlike standard vehicles, RVs serve as mobile homes for many, and a cover can provide added insulation and privacy, enhancing your comfort while protecting against the elements. By investing in an RV cover, you reduce wear and tear, ensuring that your RV remains in excellent condition for years to come.

How To Measure Your RV:

Length: Measure the longest distance from the front to the rear of the RV, including bumpers, spare tires, and ladders. Measure to the front of the bumper or the bunk area, whichever is farther.

Height: Measure the highest point of the RV's sidewalls from the top of the roof to the outside frame, excluding ground clearance and roof-mounted accessories.

How to Install Your RV Cover:

1. Identify the front of the cover by locating the "Front" tag on the interior.
2.
Lay the cover lengthwise on the ground, inside out, with the exterior facing up.
3.
Fold the sides toward the center and roll the cover from the rear, leaving the front end loose.
4.
Position the rolled cover at the rear of the RV near the ladder.
5.
Loosen the roll slightly, then climb the ladder while holding the front end.
6.
Pull the cover onto the roof gradually until you have a strip covering the entire roof.
7.
Starting at the front, unfold the cover side to side, letting it drape down the sides as you move to the rear.
8.
Ensure the corner opposite the ladder is positioned under the cover’s corner.
9.
Climb down while bringing the cover down with you, then adjust the cover as needed.

Removal:

1. Undo all straps and zippers on the cover.
2.
Lift the front of the cover to the top of the RV.
3.
Pull the cover down from the rear.

For Cleaning:

Proper care of your RV cover is essential for maintaining its performance and water resistance. Contaminants like dirt and grease can damage the cover, so regular washing is recommended for long-lasting protection.

You can wash the cover by hand or in a washing machine. For hand washing, install the cover on your RV, rinse it with a hose, then use a cloth and multi-purpose cleaner to scrub. Rinse again and either towel dry or let it air dry.

For machine washing, use the largest machine available, set it to gentle mode, and wash with mild powder detergent in cold water—avoid bleach and fabric softeners. Rinse the cover twice to remove all detergent, and always air dry.
