The Clear2O® Universal Replacement Sediment Pre-Filter is often the first filter installed in a filtration system unit using a 2.5” x 10” filter housing and acts as a net to catch unwanted particles, including sand, dirt, silt, rust, and other fine particles. These particles and pollutants come from water sources, old and dirty pipes, as well as contaminants that are used to treat the water.
Sediment filters are made of fine polypropylene strands, which are spun and woven into a filter multiple media then wrapped in a cylinder-like form. Propylene is a substance that is resistant to chemical solvents, bases, and acids. Removal of these particles by a Pre-Filter allows other filters, such as Carbon Block or GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) filters, to perform better and for longer periods of time.
