Dual-compressor, basement/underfloor mounted central air conditioning system delivering up to 27,000 BTU of combined cooling capacity, plus supplemental electric heat pump heating, all while keeping the roofline completely clear.
The Coleman Mach 36515-011 Two Ton PLUS is a basement-mount (underfloor) central air conditioning system built as an alternative to a traditional rooftop RV AC unit. Instead of sitting on top of the coach, it installs underneath the floor, keeping the roof completely clear for solar panels, satellite equipment, roof racks, or simply a cleaner overall profile. Moving the unit's weight down and out of the RV also lowers the vehicle's center of gravity, which can improve overall driving stability.
What makes the Two Ton PLUS unique is its dual-compressor design: two separate 13,500 BTU compressors are packaged into a single unit, for a combined cooling capacity of up to 27,000 BTU. The system automatically cycles on one or both compressors depending on cooling demand, so it can run more efficiently on milder days and ramp up to full output when needed. A built-in heat pump also uses electricity to provide supplemental heating during moderate outdoor temperatures, reducing reliance on a separate furnace in shoulder-season conditions (heat pumps become less effective as outdoor temperatures drop toward freezing, so this isn't intended to replace a propane furnace in cold weather).
The system uses R32 refrigerant, a more modern alternative to older refrigerants like R-410A, offering improved energy efficiency, faster cooling performance, and a lower global warming potential. It's compatible with both ducted and non-ducted air distribution setups, so the installation can be tailored to fit the specific layout of the RV, and it's built and assembled in the USA.
Frees up the entire roof for solar, satellite, cargo, or a lower-profile look. Lowers the RV's center of gravity for improved stability. Runs quieter inside the coach since the compressors are mounted below the living space rather than directly overhead. Flexible ducted or non-ducted installation lets the air distribution system be tailored to the RV's layout.
Like all heat pumps, this unit's heating performance drops off as outdoor temperatures approach freezing. It's designed to provide efficient supplemental heat in moderate conditions, not to replace a propane furnace for cold-weather camping.
The 36515-011 is the current version of Coleman Mach's Two Ton PLUS basement air conditioner, replacing the discontinued 46515-611. The two units share the same dual 13,500 BTU compressor design and basement-mount format; the current 36515-011 uses the newer R32 refrigerant.
