Curt MFG 2 to 4 Bikes 1-1/4" and 2" Receiver Curt 18030 Extendable Hitch-Mounted Bike Rack

Haul two bikes today, four bikes on the next trip -- the Curt 18030 expands to meet your needs without swapping racks. Bolt-on extension arms scale capacity from 2 to 4 bikes, rubber-coated cradles protect every frame, and a tilt-away design keeps your RV's rear door accessible even with bikes loaded.

One Rack, Two Configurations -- Built for RV Life

Whether you're heading out for a weekend of trail riding or loading up the whole family's bikes for a longer trip, the Curt 18030 adapts without making you buy additional hardware. The extension arms bolt on and off in minutes, and when the rack isn't in use the arms fold down and the post disconnects for flat, compact storage in a truck bed or RV basement.

The included adapter sleeve bridges the gap between 1-1/4" and 2" receiver tubes, so this rack works across Class I, II, and III hitches. If you're using a 1-1/4" receiver (Class I or II), the included heavy-duty nylon support strap is required -- it compensates for the lower tongue-weight capacity of smaller hitches and keeps the rack stable under load.

Scalable Capacity

Removable bolt-on extension arms convert the rack from a 2-bike carrier to a 4-bike carrier. No separate rack needed for larger groups.

Frame-Safe Cradles

Adjustable rubber-coated support arms grip bike frames securely without scratching paint or carbon fiber. Works with a wide range of frame tube diameters.

Tilt-Away Access

The entire loaded rack tilts away from the vehicle so you can open a rear hatch, camper door, or truck tailgate without unloading a single bike.

Anti-Wobble Shank

Threaded anti-wobble bolt tightens the shank against the receiver walls, eliminating the side-to-side sway that plagues standard hitch racks on rough roads.

Receiver Compatibility and the Adapter Sleeve

The 18030 ships with an adapter sleeve that allows it to seat properly in both 1-1/4" and 2" receiver tubes -- no separate purchase required. This covers the vast majority of tow vehicles and RVs on the road today.

1-1/4" Receiver Users: Class I and Class II hitches have lower tongue-weight ratings than Class III. Always install the included heavy-duty nylon support strap when mounting this rack on a 1-1/4" receiver. The strap distributes load and reduces stress on the hitch head.
Trailer Use Prohibited: Do not install this rack on a trailer or any other towed vehicle. It is designed for direct vehicle hitch mounting only. Installing on a trailer creates an unsupported overhang and a serious road hazard.

Construction and Finish

The main structure is steel with a durable black powder coat finish that resists chipping, rust, and UV fading -- important for a rack that lives outside in all weather conditions. Rubber cradle coatings are thick enough to absorb trail vibration without cracking or peeling under repeated use.

Storage When Not in Use

The bolt-together post disconnects and the arms fold flat, so the disassembled rack stores in a fraction of the space of a rigid unit. This matters in an RV where basement bay space is at a premium. The nylon strap stores with the rack and doesn't require any special hardware to reattach.

What's Included:
  • 1x Curt 18030 extendable bike rack (main body with 2-bike configuration)
  • 1x Bolt-on extension arm set (converts to 4-bike capacity)
  • 1x Receiver adapter sleeve (fits 1-1/4" and 2" tubes)
  • 1x Heavy-duty nylon support strap
Maintenance Tips:
  • Inspect rubber cradle coatings before each trip for cracking or slippage.
  • Check and retighten the anti-wobble bolt after the first 30 minutes of driving and at each stop on long trips.
  • Touch up any chips in the powder coat with a rust-inhibiting spray paint to prevent corrosion, especially after winter storage.
  • Store the receiver adapter sleeve with the rack so it doesn't get separated between uses.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • Maximum combined bike weight is 180 lbs. Do not exceed this limit regardless of hitch class or receiver size.
  • A support strap is required when mounting on a 1-1/4" receiver tube. The strap is included. Skipping it risks hitch damage and rack instability.
  • Do NOT install on a trailer, fifth wheel pin box, or any other towed vehicle. This rack is for the tow vehicle or motorhome only.
  • Verify your vehicle's hitch tongue-weight rating before loading. The rack itself weighs 42 lbs.; add that to your total bike weight when calculating tongue load.
  • Tighten the anti-wobble bolt firmly before driving. Recheck after the first stretch of rough road.
  • Rear visibility may be reduced with bikes loaded. Check local regulations regarding taillights and license plate visibility; an auxiliary lighting kit may be required.
