No trailer hitch? No problem. The Swagman 64025 Receiver Bumper Adapter bolts directly to a continuous welded steel bumper and creates a standard 2-inch hitch receiver opening -- so you can mount any 2-inch hitch-style bike rack without a factory or aftermarket trailer hitch. A practical, bolt-on solution for RVs, trucks, and SUVs with the right bumper construction.
Many RVs, older trucks, and SUVs have a solid welded steel rear bumper but no receiver hitch. The Swagman 64025 fills that gap. Built from solid steel and rated to 200 lbs, it gives you a real 2-inch receiver opening that accepts standard hitch-mount bike racks -- the same racks you would hang off a Class III hitch. Simply bolt it to your bumper's top edge and you are ready to load bikes.
The adapter is designed for bumpers that are 4 to 4.5 inches wide (top-to-bottom face), and it can be mounted on top of or below the bumper. Mounting below the bumper maintains the same function but does reduce ground clearance, so top-mount is preferred when possible.
Heavy-gauge solid steel construction holds up to road vibration, weather, and repeated bike rack loading and unloading.
Rated for up to 200 lbs -- enough for most 2-bike or lightweight 4-bike hitch-mount racks and the bikes themselves.
Comes with an anti-rattle device that reduces the wobble and clunking common with hitch receiver connections during travel.
Installation hardware is in the box. No separate trip to the hardware store -- bolt it on and load your rack.
The standard installation positions the adapter on top of the bumper face. If your bumper geometry or ground clearance requirements make top-mounting impractical, the adapter can also be mounted below the bumper rail. Keep in mind that below-bumper installation reduces ground clearance by approximately the height of the adapter body -- a consideration for off-road or unpaved campground approaches.
This adapter works with any hitch-mount bike rack that uses a standard 2-inch receiver shank. That includes Swagman's own rack lineup as well as racks from Kuat, Thule, Yakima, Hollywood Racks, and others. The adapter does not create a towing connection -- it is for bike racks only.
