Traditional RV refrigerators use gas absorption cooling, which requires the RV to be reasonably level to work efficiently and takes time to cool down. The N8DCSSR uses a 12V DC compressor — the same technology as residential refrigerators — which cools faster, works at any angle, and maintains temperature more consistently regardless of outside temperature. The tradeoff is higher amp draw, so battery capacity and solar or shore power availability matter more with a compressor unit. Night Mode partially offsets this by reducing power draw during low-demand overnight hours.
