Fasco 115V / 3000 RPM UL and CSA Listed Fasco A983 Intercity Furnace Flue Exhaust Vent Blower -- NBK 12194

A direct-replacement exhaust vent blower engineered for specific Intercity furnace models. This Fasco A983 unit restores proper flue draft and combustion venting with OEM-matched speed, voltage, and rotation specs -- so you're not guessing at compatibility. UL and CSA listed for residential and light-commercial installations.

Restore Safe, Reliable Furnace Venting

When a furnace flue blower fails, the furnace typically locks out on a pressure-switch fault or simply fails to ignite. This Fasco A983 replacement blower matches the original motor frame, rotation direction, bearing type, and electrical ratings of the Intercity blowers it replaces -- making it a drop-in repair rather than a fabrication project.

The motor uses a C-frame shaded-pole design with ball bearings for long service life. The 1/4" male quick-connect terminals simplify reconnection, and the open air-over construction keeps the motor cool during continuous furnace operation.

Correct Rotation

CCWSE (counter-clockwise, shaft end) rotation matches original Intercity blower assemblies. Incorrect rotation is a leading cause of pressure-switch lockout after a blower swap.

Ball Bearing Motor

Ball bearings provide quieter operation and longer service life compared to sleeve-bearing motors, especially in high-cycle furnace duty applications.

UL and CSA Listed

Dual safety listing satisfies most jurisdiction requirements for furnace repair work and gives homeowners and technicians peace of mind on the installation.

Class B Insulation

Rated for ambient temperatures up to 104 deg F (40 deg C). Class B winding insulation handles the heat generated in a typical flue blower application without accelerated degradation.

Verified Intercity Replacement Part Numbers

This blower directly replaces the following Intercity OEM part numbers. Cross-check your existing motor's label before ordering to confirm fitment:

  • 119290-00
  • 1014433
  • 1014529
  • 70582726
  • 7058-2726

Also catalogued under NBK Parts number 12194 and Fasco model number A983.

Drop-In Fit: The C-frame motor design and 1/4" male terminals are dimensionally matched to the original Intercity blower assembly. No bracket fabrication or terminal adapter is required for the listed replacement models.

Motor Construction Details

The A983 uses a shaded-pole induction motor in an open air-over (OAO) enclosure. Shaded-pole motors are inherently reliable in single-speed blower duty -- there are no brushes, capacitors, or start windings to fail. The open enclosure relies on airflow through the motor for cooling, which is normal and appropriate for a flue blower application where the motor sits in the airstream.

Single Speed Only: This motor runs at one fixed speed (3000 RPM). It is not compatible with variable-speed or multi-speed control boards. If your furnace control board uses a PWM or multi-tap motor output, verify compatibility with the Intercity service manual before installation.

Installation Notes

Before installing, confirm the following on your existing blower label:

  • Voltage: 115V, 60 Hz
  • Rotation: CCWSE (counter-clockwise when viewed from the shaft end)
  • Speed: 3000 RPM, single speed
  • Amperage draw: approximately 1.87A -- verify your furnace wiring is rated accordingly
Maintenance Tip: While the blower is out, clean the flue passage and check the pressure switch tubing for cracks or blockages. A clogged flue or cracked hose is often the root cause of blower failure and will defeat a new blower just as quickly.

Important Information -- Read Before Installing
  • This is a 115V AC motor -- do not attempt to connect to 12V DC RV or low-voltage circuits.
  • Rotation direction (CCWSE) is critical. Installing a blower with reversed rotation will prevent the pressure switch from closing and lock out the furnace.
  • Disconnect power to the furnace and allow the heat exchanger to cool completely before removing the old blower.
  • Confirm your existing OEM part number matches one of the listed Intercity replacement numbers before installation. Fasco and NBK do not guarantee compatibility with unlisted models.
  • This motor is an open air-over design -- do not block airflow around the motor housing. Blocked cooling air can cause the motor to overheat and fail prematurely.
  • Installation should comply with applicable local codes and the original equipment manufacturer's service procedures.
