Secures your ball mount in your 2-1/2" receiver hitch and deters theft with a drill-resistant barrel lock that cannot be false-locked. 5/8" pin diameter. Chrome-plated hardened steel. Fast 1/4-turn lock and unlock. Weather-resistant O-ring and rubber dust cap protect the mechanism. 2 barrel keys included.
A standard hitch pin and clip secure your ball mount in the receiver — but offer zero theft deterrence. The Fastway 86-00-3160 Locking Hitch Pin replaces that standard pin and clip with a keyed, drill-resistant barrel lock that secures the ball mount to your 2-1/2" receiver and makes removal without a key genuinely difficult.
The 86-00-3160 is the heavy-duty companion to the standard 2" receiver model (86-00-3050), sized specifically for the wider 2-1/2" receiver tube found on HD trucks and their Class V receiver hitches. It uses the same proven barrel lock system: drill-resistant, impossible to false-lock, 1/4-turn operation, chrome-plated hardened steel, diamond knurling grip band, weather-resistant O-ring, rubber dust cap, and two keys included. If you're running a 2-1/2" receiver with an SSBM HD, Flash Simple HD, or Flash Force HD ball mount, this is the correct locking pin for your setup.
Extra-level protection against a common theft attack method — and specifically cannot be "false locked" into an insecure position
Quick enough to use every time — no excuse to leave your HD ball mount unprotected while you're away from the rig or job site
O-ring and rubber dust cap keep ice, water, and dirt out of the locking mechanism to extend its service life
Textured grip band makes the lock easier to handle with cold, wet, or gloved hands in demanding work environments
The 86-00-3160 is sized specifically for 2-1/2" receiver tubes. It will not fit correctly in a standard 2" receiver. If your receiver is 2" (Class III, IV, or V): See the Fastway 86-00-3050 instead — same locking system, sized for 2" receivers. How to confirm your receiver size: Measure the inside opening of your receiver tube. A 2" receiver measures 2" across the opening; a 2-1/2" receiver measures 2-1/2" across. Many HD trucks (F-250/350, Ram 2500/3500, Silverado/Sierra 2500/3500) come with 2-1/2" factory receiver hitches.
Installing the Locking Hitch Pin: 1. Remove Existing Pin and Clip: Pull the existing hitch pin and clip from your receiver's cross pin hole 2. Insert Ball Mount: Slide your ball mount shank fully into the 2-1/2" receiver tube, aligning the cross pin hole in the shank with the receiver's pin hole 3. Insert Locking Pin: With the lock in the open (unlocked) position, slide the 5/8" pin through the receiver and ball mount cross holes 4. Lock: Insert the barrel key and turn 1/4 turn to engage the lock — the ball mount is now secured in the receiver 5. Remove Key and Install Dust Cap: Remove the key and cover the keyhole with the rubber dust cap between uses 6. To Remove: Insert key, turn 1/4 turn to unlock, and slide the pin free Store one key separately from the other as a backup. Keep the dust cap installed whenever the lock is not being accessed to extend its service life.
