Standard RV inline filter housings use a replaceable cartridge that sits inside a threaded bowl. During normal use, water enters the housing, passes through the cartridge, and exits filtered. The FP-WP100 replaces that cartridge with a solid plate. When the housing is reassembled, water or antifreeze flows in, is redirected around the solid plate, and exits through the outlet -- bypassing any filter media entirely. This means antifreeze reaches all downstream lines without wasting your filter cartridge.
The bypass plate is intended for winterization only -- it does not filter water. Do not use it as a substitute for your filter cartridge during the camping season. Always reinstall your filter cartridge before using the water system for consumption.
Label the bypass plate with a marker or hang tag so it doesn't get lost over the winter. Store your filter cartridge in a zip-close bag in a temperature-controlled location to prevent freeze damage to the media.
