Koni Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) front shock absorber for Chevrolet P30/P32 (1968–1999) and Workhorse P30/P32 (1999–2007) motorhome chassis with independent front suspension. Sold individually. Combines performance control with coach comfort in a single non-adjustable shock.
The Koni 8805-1006 is a front Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) shock absorber designed specifically for Class A motorhomes built on the Chevrolet and Workhorse P30/P32 chassis. FSD technology automatically adjusts damping force based on the frequency of suspension inputs — delivering firm damping for large-displacement events like cornering and rough roads, and soft damping for high-frequency, low-amplitude inputs like expansion joints and pavement texture that cause interior vibration and fatigue.
A special internal valve filters out high-frequency vibrations before they transmit into the coach, reducing the buzzing and jostling that commonly plague motorhome passengers on long highway runs. The result is a shock that controls body roll, pitch, and sway on challenging roads while remaining compliant and comfortable on smooth surfaces — without any manual adjustment required. Koni FSD shocks are a widely recommended upgrade over factory shocks on P-series chassis motorhomes.
The 8805-1006 is designed for P30/P32 motorhome chassis with independent front suspension (IFS) only. It is not compatible with solid front axle configurations. If you are unsure whether your chassis has independent or solid axle front suspension, verify before ordering. All Class A motorhome applications on the P30/P32 should have IFS, but confirm if your chassis has been modified.
Traditional shock absorbers use a fixed damping rate — either too soft (allowing excessive body motion) or too firm (transmitting harsh road vibrations). Koni's FSD technology uses a frequency-sensitive internal valve that distinguishes between low-frequency inputs (bumps, corners, lane changes) and high-frequency inputs (road texture, expansion joints). The shock responds with high damping to low-frequency events for control, and low damping to high-frequency events for comfort — automatically, with no adjustment required. This makes FSD shocks particularly well suited to motorhomes, which have high unsprung weight and are highly sensitive to body pitch and roll.
