Lippert 3,500-lb Axle Complete Hub Kit

Lippert 2024013264 -- 10" Complete Brake Hub Kit with Installed Bearings

Everything you need to replace one wheel hub on a 3,500-lb trailer axle. Pre-greased bearings are already installed at the factory, so you spend your time wrenching, not packing. Fits the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern used across a broad range of Lippert and compatible axles. Part of the Lippert / Dexter hub rebuild program, also cross-referenced as K-122460 and vendor part 08-7941.

One Kit. One Hub. Ready to Roll.

Trailer wheel-end service doesn't have to mean a trip to the dealer. The Lippert 2024013264 kit bundles the drum hub, pre-greased inner and outer bearings, grease seal, dust cap, and wheel studs into one package. Pull the old hub, install the new one, torque the castle nut, and you're done. No separate bearing sourcing, no guesswork on stud spec.

This kit is designed for 10" electric brake drums mounted on 3,500-lb capacity axles -- the most common single-axle and tandem-axle rating found on travel trailers, toy haulers, and utility trailers under 7,000 lb GVW. The 5 on 4-1/2" (114.3 mm) bolt circle matches a wide range of trailer wheels, including those shared with some light-truck applications.

Pre-Installed Bearings

Inner and outer bearings are factory-greased and pressed in -- skip the pack-and-press step on the job site.

5 on 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern

114.3 mm bolt circle with five 1/2"-20 UNF wheel studs -- matches a wide range of trailer and light-truck wheels.

3,500-lb Axle Rating

Engineered for the most common single trailer axle rating. Fits tandem setups on trailers up to 7,000 lb GVW.

10" Brake Drum

Sized for standard 10" x 2-1/4" electric brake shoes -- the industry-dominant size for 3,500-lb axles.

What Is Included

This kit covers one complete wheel-end hub assembly. For a full axle replacement (both sides), order two kits.

  • 10" electric brake hub/drum assembly
  • Inner and outer tapered roller bearings (pre-greased, factory installed)
  • Inner grease seal (installed)
  • Outer dust cap
  • Five 1/2"-20 UNF pressed-in wheel studs

Note: Lug nuts, castle nut/cotter pin, and brake magnets/shoes are NOT included. Verify your existing hardware before starting the job.

Drop-In Replacement for Lippert and Dexter 3,500-lb Axles

Lippert acquired Dexter Axle and continues to manufacture and support Dexter-spec hubs under the Lippert brand. This hub is a direct replacement for assemblies originally supplied with Lippert/Dexter 3,500-lb axles using the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. Cross-reference: K-122460 (Dexter kit number), vendor part 08-7941.

Bolt Pattern and Stud Compatibility

The 5 on 4-1/2" (5x114.3 mm) bolt circle is widely used across trailer axle manufacturers. Before ordering, verify your current wheel's bolt circle with a tape measure center-to-center across opposing studs (should measure approximately 4-1/4" across opposite studs on a 5-lug pattern). Stud thread is 1/2"-20 UNF -- confirm your lug nuts match before reuse.

Bearing Service Interval

Even with factory-greased bearings, Lippert and Dexter recommend inspecting and repacking trailer wheel bearings every 12,000 miles or annually, whichever comes first. Always re-torque the castle nut after the first 50 miles of travel following any hub installation.

Installation Tips

  • Clean the spindle threads and bearing surfaces before installation.
  • Apply a light coat of fresh grease to the spindle before sliding the hub on.
  • Torque the castle nut to seat bearings (approximately 50 ft-lb), then back off and finger-tighten per Dexter/Lippert spec -- typically 0 to 0.001" end play.
  • Install a new cotter pin -- never reuse the old one.
  • Inspect brake magnets and shoes for wear before closing up; replace if lining is worn below 1/8".

Important Information -- Read Before Installing

  • This kit covers ONE hub assembly only. Two kits are required to service both sides of a single axle.
  • Verify your axle's capacity rating is 3,500 lb and your bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2" before ordering -- do not install on axles with different ratings or bolt patterns.
  • Do not tow until the castle nut is properly adjusted, a new cotter pin is installed, and the dust cap is fully seated.
  • Inspect the spindle for wear, scoring, or damage before installing a new hub. A worn spindle will destroy new bearings prematurely.
  • Brake magnets and shoes are NOT included. Always inspect and replace worn brake components at the same time as the hub.
  • Exceeding the 3,500-lb axle rating voids hub warranty and creates a serious safety hazard.
