Lippert 500:1 High Torque 12V DC Lippert 325979 -- High Torque 500:1 In-Wall Motor for Schwintek Slide-Out and Bed Tilt Systems

When your Schwintek Electric In-Wall slide-out or Bed Tilt system stops moving or moves unevenly, a worn or failed motor assembly is often the culprit. The Lippert 325979 is the direct OEM replacement motor, purpose-built for these systems with a high 500:1 gear ratio that delivers the torque needed to push and pull heavy slide rooms reliably. If your coach came from the factory with a Schwintek In-Wall system, this is the motor it was designed around.

Direct OEM Replacement for Schwintek In-Wall Slide-Out Systems

The Lippert Schwintek Electric In-Wall slide-out system uses a pair of synchronized motors mounted inside the wall cavity to drive the rack-and-pinion track. Over time, motor brushes wear, gear teeth strip, or the motor simply burns out from repeated cycling. The 325979 replaces the motor assembly directly -- the same part Lippert installs at the factory -- so you restore full operation without modifying any tracks, brackets, or wiring harnesses.

This motor is also used in the Lippert Electric In-Wall Bed Tilt system, which uses the same motor design to raise and lower the bed platform in select RV floor plans. One replacement part covers both applications.

500:1 Gear Ratio

High-torque output designed to move heavy slide rooms smoothly without straining the rack-and-pinion track.

12V DC Operation

Runs directly from your coach house battery system. No inverter or converter required for operation.

OEM-Matched Design

Engineered to fit the existing motor mount and rack engagement points in the Schwintek In-Wall slide-out track system.

Dual Application Fit

Compatible with both the Schwintek Electric In-Wall slide-out system and the Electric In-Wall Bed Tilt system.

What Is the Schwintek In-Wall System?

The Schwintek (now branded Lippert Electric In-Wall) slide-out system uses two slender motor-and-rack assemblies mounted vertically inside the wall framing of the slide room. Unlike traditional through-frame or cable-over-hydraulic systems, the In-Wall system has no exposed components on the exterior of the room. This keeps the slide room lighter and the mechanism cleaner, but it also means motor access requires working inside the wall cavity -- usually accessible from inside the coach with the room extended.

Each slide room uses two motors (one top, one bottom) that must be synchronized. When one motor fails, both should be inspected. It is common practice to replace motors in pairs if one is significantly worn, to keep the room tracking evenly.

Correct Motor for Your System

Lippert produced different gear-ratio motors for the In-Wall system. The 325979 is the high-torque 500:1 ratio version. Earlier or lighter-duty applications may use a different ratio motor. Confirm your existing motor's gear ratio before ordering -- the ratio is typically printed on a label on the motor body itself.

Installation Overview

Motor replacement on a Schwintek system is a straightforward mechanical swap, but it does require the slide room to be in a specific position for access. Most technicians extend the slide fully, remove the interior wall trim panel to expose the motor, disconnect the wiring harness and the rack drive gear, and swap the motor assembly. The motor mounts with screws into the track bracket.

Socket Screw Not Included

This listing is for the motor assembly only. The socket screw (set screw) that secures the drive gear to the motor shaft is not included. Reuse your existing screw if it is in good condition, or order the appropriate socket screw separately. Do not operate the system without the set screw properly torqued -- the drive gear will spin free on the shaft and damage the track.

Synchronization After Replacement

After installing a new motor, the Schwintek system's control board may need to be re-initialized so both motors run in sync. This typically involves a reset sequence using the slide-out switch -- hold the switch in the extend or retract position until the system completes a self-calibration cycle. Refer to the Lippert In-Wall system installation manual (available on Lippert's support site) for the specific reset procedure for your control board version.

Maintenance Tips

  • Inspect the rack track for broken or missing teeth before installing a new motor -- a damaged rack will destroy a new motor quickly.
  • Clean rack teeth with a dry brush before reinstalling. Avoid petroleum-based lubricants on the rack; use a dry or lithium-based slide lubricant only if specified by Lippert.
  • Check the wiring harness connector for corrosion or damaged pins. A poor connection causes the motor to run hot and shortens service life.
  • After installation, cycle the slide two or three full in-and-out cycles to confirm even, smooth travel before buttoning up the trim panel.

Important Information

  • The socket screw (set screw) that secures the drive gear to the motor shaft is not included. You must reuse your original screw or source one separately before operating the system.
  • This is the 500:1 high-torque version. Do not substitute a different gear ratio motor -- mismatched ratios between top and bottom motors will cause the slide room to rack and bind, potentially damaging the track or wall structure.
  • Inspect the rack track for bent or missing teeth before installing a new motor. Installing a new motor on a damaged rack will cause premature motor failure.
  • Always perform the Lippert In-Wall system re-initialization sequence after motor replacement to ensure both motors are properly synchronized.
  • Sold individually. A standard slide room requires two motors (one per track). Verify whether one or both need replacement before ordering.
  • Do not operate the slide room under load (with items on or against the slide) during initial post-installation test cycles.
