MB SturgisUL569 / ANSI Z21-81 CertifiedMade in USAMB Sturgis Type 1 Inverted Flare LP Pigtail -- 24" Hose (06-1406)

The MB Sturgis 06-1406 is a 24-inch Type 1 inverted flare propane pigtail hose designed to connect a dual LP cylinder system to a two-stage regulator. Its high-flow design -- rated up to 200,000 SCFH -- reduces the risk of the regulator entering bypass mode and cutting off your gas supply at the worst possible moment.

Higher Flow, Fewer Interruptions at the Tank

On a dual-cylinder LP system, the quality of the connection between your propane bottles and the two-stage regulator matters more than most RVers realize. A restrictive or poorly designed hose can cause the regulator to sense low demand and lock into bypass mode -- effectively shutting down gas flow to your appliances even when there is plenty of fuel in the tanks.

The MB Sturgis Type 1 pigtail is engineered to prevent exactly that. The 1/4" ID thermoplastic hose maintains adequate flow at the regulator inlet, and the dark green Type 1 tank fitting includes an internal backcheck valve that prevents propane from leaking back out when the hose is disconnected from the cylinder. That backcheck is not just a convenience feature -- it is a safety requirement on a properly built dual-cylinder changeover system.

200,000 SCFH Flow Rating

High-capacity flow path reduces regulator bypass events caused by inadequate inlet pressure or volume.

Type 1 Backcheck Connection

Dark green Type 1 POL-style fitting with internal backcheck valve prevents reverse gas leakage when hose is removed.

Wide Temperature Range

Rated -40F to 140F (-40C to 60C) -- handles cold-weather boondocking and hot summer storage without cracking or stiffening.

UL569 and ANSI Z21-81 Listed

Meets the primary safety standards for LP gas hose connectors used in RV and residential propane applications.

Type 1 Connection -- What It Means

"Type 1" refers to the ACME-thread, left-hand connection standard (also called QCC1) used on virtually all modern US propane cylinders 4 lb and larger -- including the standard 20 lb tanks carried by most RVs and campers. The Type 1 fitting threads directly onto the cylinder valve hand-tight, no wrench required. The dark green color is the industry-standard identifier for RV-service Type 1 fittings.

The inverted flare on the regulator end is a standard 1/4" inverted flare (SAE) connection, matching the inlet fitting on most two-stage LP regulators used in RV dual-cylinder applications.

Designed for Dual-Cylinder Changeover Systems

This pigtail is specifically intended for use in a paired configuration -- two pigtails feeding into an automatic or manual LP changeover valve and two-stage regulator. Using a single high-flow pigtail on each cylinder ensures balanced inlet conditions for the regulator and prevents one side from starving the other.

Construction and Materials

The hose body is a 1/4" ID thermoplastic assembly -- flexible enough for easy routing in tight compartments, durable enough to resist the UV exposure, vibration, and temperature swings common in RV propane compartments. The fittings are brass. Overall hose length is 24 inches, which fits most standard RV propane bay configurations with room for the cylinders to be properly positioned without pulling tension on the hose.

24-Inch Length -- Fit Check

Measure from your cylinder valve to the regulator inlet before ordering. If your tanks are positioned further from the regulator, MB Sturgis also offers this pigtail in longer lengths. The 24" version suits most standard dual-cylinder RV propane compartments where the cylinders sit adjacent to the regulator.

Safety and Certification

This hose assembly is UL569 listed (Pigtails and Flexible Hose Connectors for LP Gas) and ANSI Z21-81 certified, the two primary standards governing LP flexible connectors in North America. It is rated for LP gas use only -- do not use with natural gas, compressed air, or any non-LP fuel gas. The one-year limited manufacturer warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship.

LP Gas Only

This hose is rated for liquid petroleum (propane) gas service only. It is not rated for natural gas, CNG, or compressed air. Inspect the hose and fittings at the start of each season for cracks, abrasion, or corrosion. Replace immediately if any damage is found -- do not attempt to repair an LP hose.

Important Information
  • For LP (propane) gas service only -- not rated for natural gas, CNG, or compressed air.
  • Intended for use in dual-cylinder systems connected to a two-stage regulator. Not a replacement for the regulator itself.
  • Inspect hose and fittings before each use. Do not use if hose is cracked, kinked, abraded, or fittings show corrosion.
  • Do not exceed the rated temperature range of -40F to 140F.
  • Ensure the Type 1 cylinder fitting is fully hand-tightened before opening the cylinder valve. The internal backcheck prevents backflow when disconnected, but does not compensate for a loose connection.
  • Always test connections with an approved leak-detection solution after installation. Never use an open flame to test for leaks.
  • Replace this hose at least every 5 years or per local LP gas code requirements, whichever comes first.
