A reliable, code-compliant connection between your LP cylinder and RV regulator. The Marshall Excelsior MER401-15 pigtail hose delivers safe propane transfer with a built-in excess flow valve, fully crimped brass ferrules, and a flexible thermoplastic body rated to 350 PSIG -- all backed by a limited 5-year manufacturer warranty and Made in the USA.
Pigtail hoses are the short, flexible lines that connect a propane cylinder valve to a two-stage or single-stage regulator. The MER401-15 is engineered specifically for this role: 15 inches of flexible thermoplastic hose gives you enough slack to prevent stress on fittings when tanks shift during travel, while keeping the overall assembly compact at an RV propane compartment.
The POL (Prest-O-Lite) 7/8" left-hand threaded nut connects directly to standard LP cylinder service valves. The 1/4" male inverted flare on the outlet end is the standard inlet thread found on most RV two-stage regulators and many appliance connection points, making this hose a direct, no-adapter-needed solution for a wide range of setups.
Internal excess flow valve automatically restricts gas flow if the downstream line is severed or develops a major leak, reducing fire and explosion risk.
Both ends are factory crimped with brass ferrules -- no clamps, no field assembly required. Connections are gas-tight and consistent from the factory.
Hose includes integrated thermal protection to guard the flexible body against radiant heat and UV exposure common in RV propane compartments.
Meets Underwriters Laboratories and Compressed Gas Association standards. Code-compliant for RV, recreational, and portable LP applications across North America.
The POL 7/8" nut is the classic left-hand-thread fitting used on older and current standard LP cylinders (the kind without an OPD handwheel). Turn counterclockwise to tighten. If your cylinder has a newer five-sided OPD (Overfill Protection Device) handwheel valve, verify whether it accepts a POL fitting or requires a Type 1 (ACME) connection -- the MER401-15 is POL only.
The 1/4" male inverted flare outlet is the most common inlet thread on RV two-stage regulators and many single-stage units. It threads directly into a standard 1/4" female inverted flare regulator inlet without adapters.
This pigtail is commonly used in dual-cylinder RV setups where each cylinder gets its own pigtail, both feeding into a automatic or manual changeover valve or two-stage regulator. It is also used in single-cylinder installations on smaller trailers and campers. The 15" length provides enough working room to connect and disconnect tanks without undue stress on the regulator body.
