A reliable, high-flow propane connection built specifically for RV LP gas systems. The Marshall Excelsior MECMER426-15 pigtail links a standard QCC Type 1 (Acme) tank valve to a 1/4-inch male NPT regulator or manifold port, delivering up to 200,000 BTU/hr of flow capacity in a compact 15-inch thermally protected hose -- UL listed and CGA approved right out of the box.
Pigtail hoses are the short, flexible links that connect your LP tank valve directly to a two-stage regulator, an automatic changeover valve, or a manifold. The MECMER426-15 uses a Female QCC Type 1 (also called a Type 1 Acme or POL-replacement) inlet -- the same industry-standard fitting found on virtually all portable and RV propane cylinders sold in North America after 1998. The outlet is a 1/4-inch Male NPT, compatible with most RV regulators and aftermarket manifolds.
At 15 inches, this pigtail provides enough slack to absorb vibration on the road while keeping the connection tight and secure inside an RV propane compartment. Fully crimped brass ferrules at both ends eliminate hose-clamp concerns and create a leak-free, permanent seal rated for the life of the hose.
Rated at 100 SCFH (standard cubic feet per hour) and 200,000 BTU/hr -- handles simultaneous demand from furnace, water heater, stove, and refrigerator without flow restriction.
Far exceeds typical RV tank pressures (under 200 PSIG in normal use), providing a wide safety margin for year-round camping in varying temperatures.
Integrated thermal protection limits gas flow automatically in the event of a downstream fire or excess-heat event -- a key safety feature for enclosed propane compartments.
Flexible thermoplastic hose meets UL and CGA standards. Fully crimped brass ferrules on both ends. 5-year limited manufacturer warranty. Made in the USA.
The Female QCC Type 1 end threads onto the QCC valve outlet of your propane cylinder by hand -- it uses a left-hand thread (counter-clockwise to tighten), standard for all QCC Type 1 connections. No tools are needed on the tank side; tighten firmly by hand until snug, then confirm with a soap test.
The 1/4-inch MNPT end threads into a female NPT port on your regulator inlet, changeover valve, or manifold. Use two or three wraps of gas-rated PTFE thread sealant tape on the male threads before installation. Do not over-tighten -- hand-tight plus 1-2 turns with a wrench is sufficient for NPT fittings.
At 100 SCFH, this pigtail will not be the bottleneck in your propane system. Most RV regulators pass 200,000 BTU/hr or less, so the hose comfortably supports the regulator's full rated output -- no derating needed.
This hose includes an integrated thermal (excess-flow and heat-activated) protection device. If the hose is exposed to extreme heat -- such as from a nearby flame -- the thermal element activates and restricts or shuts off propane flow. This is distinct from an excess-flow valve, which responds to sudden pressure drops from a broken line. Both are passive safety features that require no user action.
This listing is for a single 15-inch pigtail hose only. Regulators, changeover valves, manifolds, adapters, and tank fittings are sold separately. If your system uses two cylinders, you will need two pigtails (one per tank).
