Purpose-built stainless steel mesh screens that seal the 8-1/8" louver openings on Dometic RV refrigerator vents against wasps, mud daubers, spiders, birds, and rodents -- without restricting airflow. Six screens per pack with zip ties included.
Absorption refrigerators like Dometic two-way and three-way units require open exterior vents to exhaust heat from the burner and condenser coils. Those same vents are a favorite nesting spot for wasps, mud daubers, and even small rodents -- particularly when the RV sits in storage or between trips. A single mud dauber nest can block combustion airflow enough to trigger an LP lockout error or cause the fridge to run warm.
The Camco 42154 (Model RS 800) installs over each louver slot on compatible Dometic refrigerator vent covers. The fine stainless steel mesh passes air freely while physically blocking insects and debris. Each pack includes six screens and the zip ties needed to secure them -- everything you need to protect a full vent stack in one box.
Corrosion-resistant wire mesh stands up to weather, UV, and road debris. Will not rust or degrade like aluminum or plastic alternatives.
Cut to 8-1/8" x 1-1/2" to match the louver slot dimensions on Dometic refrigerator vent covers -- no trimming or guessing required.
Every pack comes with the zip ties needed for installation. No separate hardware run, no hunting for the right fastener size.
Most Dometic refrigerator vents have multiple louver openings per side. A six-pack typically covers a full upper and lower vent assembly with screens to spare.
Dometic absorption refrigerators depend on convective airflow through the vent cavity to remove heat from the condenser. A partial or full blockage from a mud dauber nest raises cavity temperatures, reduces cooling efficiency, and can trigger LP ignition faults. Fitting insect screens is one of the simplest preventive maintenance steps for any propane-capable RV fridge.
Camco makes two vent screen sizes for Dometic refrigerator vents. Make sure you match the louver slot dimension before ordering:
Measure your existing louver slot opening before ordering. The vent cover itself will be larger than the slot -- measure the open slot, not the cover frame.
Insects are most likely to nest during periods when the refrigerator is off and the vent is cold. Install these screens before putting your rig in storage, before the spring season, or any time the fridge will sit unused for more than a few days. Inspect existing screens at least once per season and replace any that are kinked, torn, or have mesh damage.
No tools required beyond a pair of scissors to trim zip ties after tightening. Basic procedure:
On some Dometic vent covers the screens can be installed without full cover removal -- check your vent cover design before starting.
