Know your tongue weight before you move an inch. The Weigh Safe WS6-2.5 is an adjustable ball mount for 2.5" receivers that measures tongue weight automatically every time you couple your trailer -- no separate scale, no guesswork. Built from 6061-T6 billet aluminum with stainless steel hitch balls, it handles up to 14,500 lb gross trailer weight and adjusts in 1" increments to level trailers of varying heights.
Improper tongue weight is one of the leading causes of trailer sway and handling problems on the road. Too little and your trailer pushes the rear of your tow vehicle; too much and your front axle lifts. The Weigh Safe WS6-2.5 solves this by putting a calibrated scale directly in the ball mount platform -- you get a real measurement every single time you hook up, not just when you happen to be near a scale.
This is a purpose-built towing tool for RV owners, horse trailer haulers, boat towers, and anyone who tows regularly with a heavy-duty truck or SUV equipped with a 2.5" receiver. Dual stainless steel hitch balls -- 2" and 2-5/16" -- cover the most common coupler sizes in one unit.
Integrated gauge measures tongue weight automatically at hookup. Rated to 2,200 lb max tongue weight. No separate equipment needed.
Stainless steel 2" ball (8,000 lb GTW) and 2-5/16" ball (14,500 lb GTW) included. Switch between coupler sizes without carrying a second mount.
Solid-block billet aluminum construction -- not hollow steel -- delivers superior strength-to-weight ratio. Mount weighs 19 lb total.
6" drop / 7" rise adjustability in 1" increments. Tow trailers of different heights with the same mount without swapping hardware.
The scale mechanism is integrated into the slider and gauge assembly on the ball mount platform. When your trailer coupler is latched onto the ball and the trailer's weight transfers to the hitch, the gauge reads tongue weight directly in pounds. There are no batteries, no Bluetooth pairing, and no app required -- it is a mechanical pressure-based gauge that reads immediately at coupling.
This matters most when you shift cargo mid-trip, add passengers, or tow different trailers with the same tow vehicle. Instead of estimating, you confirm your tongue weight is within your tow vehicle's rated tongue weight capacity before pulling out of the driveway.
The WS6-2.5 meets SAE J684 standards for trailer hitch couplings and complies with VESC Regulations V-5, providing third-party validation of structural integrity and load ratings.
A level trailer tows better, brakes more predictably, and wears tires evenly. The WS6-2.5 adjusts from 6" drop to 7" rise in 1" increments, accommodating a wide range of trailer coupler heights relative to your receiver. Whether you tow a fifth-wheel-adjacent gooseneck, a low boat trailer, or a tall RV with a high coupler, you can dial in the right position without buying a separate mount.
The ball and mounting platform fold underneath the vehicle when not in use, keeping the hitch area clean and reducing the risk of shin damage from protruding hardware. The dust lock cover protects the receiver opening when stored.
Hitch pin and clip or hitch lock are not included. You will need a 5/8" hitch pin to secure the drawbar in your receiver. A locking hitch pin is strongly recommended for security.
- Inspect the gauge slider for debris before each use. Clean the channel with a dry cloth. - Lubricate hitch balls lightly with ball mount grease to reduce coupler wear. - After towing in wet or salty conditions, rinse the aluminum shank and dry thoroughly. - Confirm the lock plate and retaining pin are fully seated before each tow.
The WS6-2.5 is designed for trucks and heavy-duty SUVs with a 2.5" (2-1/2") receiver -- typically 3/4-ton and 1-ton pickups such as Ford F-250/F-350, Ram 2500/3500, Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500, and GMC Sierra 2500/3500. If your vehicle has a standard 2" receiver, this mount will not fit; look for the Weigh Safe WS6-2 instead.
Consider adding a locking hitch pin (5/8" diameter) and a weight distribution system if your tow vehicle's tongue weight capacity is close to its limit. The WS6-2.5's built-in scale makes it easy to verify whether a weight distribution setup is correctly dialed in after installation.
