Camco Group 24 Fit USCG / ABYC Rated Camco 55394 Standard Battery Hold-Down Tray

Keep your Group 24 battery locked down and leak-contained whether you are parked at a campsite or pounding through chop on the water. This Camco tray meets USCG and ABYC standards, uses stainless steel hardware that resists corrosion, and has a solid leakproof bottom that contains acid spills before they reach your RV or boat hull.

Secure Your Battery the Right Way

A loose battery is one of the most preventable causes of electrical shorts, acid damage, and fire on an RV or boat. The Camco 55394 hold-down tray is built from heavy-duty, acid-resistant plastic with a solid bottom -- no drain holes, no gaps -- so any electrolyte that escapes the battery stays contained in the tray rather than eating through your floor, wiring, or fiberglass.

Hardware is stainless steel throughout, which matters in the wet, salty, and corrosive environments where batteries live. The cross-bar hold-down system clamps across the top of the battery to prevent vertical and lateral movement, and the tray itself can be bolted to your existing battery compartment floor using the included mounting hardware.

Group 24 Fitment

Sized specifically for Group 24 batteries -- the most common single-battery format found in RVs, boats, and utility trailers. Interior cavity matches standard Group 24 footprint.

Leakproof Solid Bottom

The tray bottom has no openings, so acid or electrolyte that escapes the battery is fully contained. Protects your battery compartment floor and nearby wiring from corrosive damage.

Stainless Steel Hardware

All included mounting and hold-down hardware is stainless steel for long-term corrosion resistance in humid, marine, and outdoor environments.

Certified for RV and Marine Use

Meets USCG CFR 183.420 and ABYC E-10.7 specifications -- required by many boat builders and useful validation for any safety-conscious RV installation.

Designed for RV and Marine Battery Compartments

The 12.2 x 8.5 x 1.4-inch footprint fits the majority of OEM RV battery compartments designed around a Group 24 cell. The low 1.4-inch tray depth keeps the battery sitting close to the compartment floor without eating into vertical clearance. The 6-3/4-inch spacing between the cross-bar flats accommodates the typical Group 24 top profile and applies clamping force evenly without damaging the battery case.

Cross-Bar Hold-Down Spacing: The distance between cross-bar flats is 6-3/4 inches, matching the standard Group 24 top-post battery width. This ensures a snug, rattle-free clamp without over-stressing the battery case.

What Is and Is Not Included

  • Includes: (1) hold-down tray
  • Includes: Mounting hardware (stainless steel)
  • Includes: Cross-bar hold-down assembly
  • Battery is NOT included
  • Battery cables and terminals are NOT included
Compliance Note: This tray meets USCG CFR 183.420 and ABYC E-10.7 standards. If you are installing on a registered vessel, these certifications satisfy the battery containment requirements for non-spillable and flooded lead-acid batteries in a marine environment.

Installation Tips

Tips for a Solid Install:
  • Test-fit the tray before drilling mounting holes -- confirm the Group 24 battery drops in with clearance on all sides.
  • Use the stainless hardware provided rather than substituting zinc or standard steel fasteners, which corrode quickly near battery acid and in marine environments.
  • Torque the cross-bar hold-down snugly but not so tight that it deforms the battery case -- hand-tight plus a quarter turn is typical for plastic battery cases.
  • Position the tray so the battery terminals face outward and away from any cable routing that could create a short-circuit risk.
  • Inspect the tray bottom annually for any cracks or acid staining that could indicate electrolyte seepage.

Common Applications

  • RV chassis battery mounting (Class A, Class C, travel trailers with single Group 24 battery setups)
  • Pontoon and fishing boat battery compartments
  • Utility and cargo trailers with onboard power
  • Golf carts and small equipment using a single Group 24 cell
  • Replacement tray when the OEM battery holder has cracked or corroded
Upgrade Tip: If you are running two batteries in parallel or a Group 27 / Group 31 cell, Camco also offers larger hold-down trays sized for those battery groups. Make sure to match the tray to your battery group number for a proper fit.

Important Information
  • This tray is sized for Group 24 batteries only. Do not use with Group 27, Group 31, or other sizes without verifying dimensions -- an improper fit will not adequately restrain the battery.
  • The solid leakproof bottom contains minor electrolyte seepage but is not designed to hold large volumes of acid. A cracked or severely leaking battery should be replaced immediately.
  • Always disconnect battery cables before removing or repositioning the battery in the tray.
  • Use only the supplied stainless steel hardware. Substituting non-stainless fasteners in a marine or high-humidity environment will result in corrosion and hardware failure.
  • Inspect tray and hardware at least once per season for cracks, acid staining, or corrosion.
  • Battery, cables, and terminals are not included with this tray.
