Threads directly into your RV city water inlet so a standard air compressor can blow residual water out of fresh water lines -- the fastest first step to a properly winterized rig and a cleaner dewinterizing in spring.
Pouring RV antifreeze into water lines that still hold standing water is one of the most common winterizing mistakes. The water dilutes the antifreeze, raising its freeze point and leaving your pipes at risk in a hard freeze. The JR Products 03054 solves that problem at the first step.
Thread the plug into the city water inlet -- the same port where you normally connect a pressurized campground hose. Connect your air compressor to the Schrader valve on the plug using a standard tire-style air chuck. Open faucets and low-point drains one at a time and let compressed air push standing water out of each branch of the plumbing system before you ever open a bottle of antifreeze.
In spring, the same plug lets you blow residual pink antifreeze out of lines quickly so you can flush and use fresh water sooner.
3/4 inch GHT (garden hose thread) male fitting threads directly into the city water inlet on most RVs -- no adapters needed for standard inlets.
The integrated Schrader valve accepts a standard automotive or compressor air chuck -- no specialty fittings required.
Plastic construction keeps weight minimal. Stores easily in a tool bag, glove box, or winterizing kit all season long.
Use it in fall to purge lines before adding antifreeze, and again in spring to blow antifreeze out before your first flush of the season.
The blow-out method is one of two accepted approaches to RV water system winterization (the other being antifreeze-only without air). Many RV owners combine both: blow out first with air, then run a small amount of antifreeze to protect traps, valves, and the water heater bypass.
Removing standing water before adding antifreeze means you use far less antifreeze to achieve full protection -- and the antifreeze that goes in is full strength, not diluted. Fewer gallons purchased, more reliable freeze protection.
The 03054 uses a standard 3/4 inch GHT male thread, which is the nearly universal inlet standard on Class A, Class B, Class C, fifth wheels, and travel trailers produced by major manufacturers. If your inlet uses a non-standard fitting or an in-line check valve that cannot be bypassed, verify compatibility before use.
RV fresh water plumbing fittings, valves, and connections are not designed for high shop-air pressure. Keep compressor output at 30-50 PSI when blowing out lines. Exceeding 50 PSI risks blowing fittings loose, cracking plastic valves, or damaging the water pump diaphragm if the pump is not isolated.
After each use, inspect the Schrader valve core for debris or damage. The valve core is a standard automotive type and is replaceable if it ever leaks. Store the plug in your winterizing kit or parts bag -- at roughly 2 inches in length it fits anywhere. Rinse with clean water after contact with RV antifreeze.
