Winterizing your RV water system just got simpler. The Valterra P23401LF is a solid brass diverter valve that routes antifreeze directly into your water pump supply line and bypasses the freshwater tank entirely -- protecting your plumbing without wasting a drop of antifreeze inside the tank. With standard 1/2" NPT connections and a compact footprint, this valve installs in minutes and is built to last season after season.
Every fall, RV owners face the same problem: pumping antifreeze through the water system pulls it through the freshwater tank first, wasting product and leaving a residue you'll flush out all spring. The P23401LF solves this by acting as a true three-port diverter -- one inlet from the tank, one inlet for antifreeze, and one outlet to the pump. Flip the valve and antifreeze goes straight to the pump without ever touching the tank.
The body is machined brass, which handles the repeated cycling, chemical exposure from RV antifreeze, and the freeze-thaw stresses that plastic valves can crack under over time. The low-lead formulation (LF designation) meets current plumbing code standards for potable water contact.
Diverts antifreeze supply directly to the pump, bypassing the tank completely during winterization.
1/2" MPT x MPT x FPT connections match the most common RV water pump plumbing configurations.
Low-lead brass body resists corrosion, chemical exposure, and the seasonal stresses of RV plumbing.
Manufactured domestically to Valterra quality standards for long service life in RV freshwater systems.
By bypassing the freshwater tank, you use only as much antifreeze as your pump, lines, and fixtures actually need -- typically saving one to two gallons per winterization compared to running antifreeze through a full tank.
The P23401LF is a tee-style diverter. In normal operation, water flows from your freshwater tank through the valve to the pump with no restriction. When you are ready to winterize, you connect a siphon hose from a jug of RV-grade antifreeze to the third port, then rotate or toggle the valve to block tank supply and open the antifreeze inlet. Your pump then draws straight from the antifreeze jug and pushes it through every line and fixture in the rig.
After spring de-winterization, flush the lines with fresh water, close the antifreeze port, and the valve returns to normal service.
The three ports are configured as: 1/2" Male NPT (tank supply inlet) x 1/2" Male NPT (antifreeze inlet) x 1/2" Female NPT (outlet to pump). Confirm your pump's inlet fitting before ordering -- most RV pumps use 1/2" FPT on the inlet, which mates directly to the valve's male outlet.
Inspect the valve body and any attached fittings each spring and fall. Brass threads are durable but can corrode if dissimilar metals are in direct contact. Use brass or plastic fittings at the connections rather than galvanized steel to prevent galvanic corrosion over multiple seasons.
