The Redarc BCDC12050B, part of Redarc's BCDC Alpha lineup, is a 50A dual-input DC-DC battery charger built to keep auxiliary and start batteries charged using either the vehicle's alternator or solar power. Its built-in Green Power Priority™ automatically prioritizes solar input when available, reducing the load on the alternator and helping save fuel. Unlike simpler DC-DC chargers, the BCDC Alpha50 can both charge and recover a flat start battery using excess solar power, activated with the push of a button or through the RedVision smartphone app.
The charger pairs over Bluetooth with Redarc's RedVision Configurator app, giving real-time visibility into charger status, battery temperature, and system performance. Configurable input current limits let you adjust the draw from the alternator to protect your vehicle's electrical system and stay compatible with hybrid or modern vehicles. Built with IP67/69K dust and moisture protection, the unit is designed for the harshest conditions, and over-the-air updates keep the charger's software current over time.
As with Redarc's other DC-DC chargers, professional installation by a qualified auto electrician or technician (such as a REDNetwork member) is recommended, particularly for the alternator and battery wiring connections. Wiring kits and mounting brackets are available separately from Redarc to complete a full installation.
