The Redarc BCDC1225D is a 25A dual-input DC-DC battery charger designed to charge a secondary battery bank to 100% state of charge while on the move. Its built-in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) solar regulator lets the unit charge from the alternator and solar at the same time, with Green Power Priority giving preference to solar input first to reduce load on the alternator. It's designed to maximize the performance and life of an auxiliary battery, and is suited for battery bank sizes of 75-200AH in most applications.
The charger works across a wide 9-32V DC input range, suits both 12V and 24V vehicle systems, and works with standard or variable/smart alternators. It's compatible with AGM, Gel, standard lead acid, calcium, and lithium (LiFePO4) batteries using patented charging profiles for each chemistry. The unit is sealed against dust and water intrusion, rated to withstand extreme heat up to 176°F, and has been tested in deep water crossings and rough terrain.
The BCDC1225D is designed for smaller battery banks in the 75-200AH range. For battery banks of roughly 200AH and above, Redarc's BCDC1240D (40A) or BCDC1250D (50A) are the better fit instead.
This charger requires a 40A fuse on both the input and output sides, which is not supplied with the unit. Redarc recommends purchasing its FK40 40 Amp Fuse Kit separately to complete a safe installation.
