The most powerful charger in Redarc's Classic BCDC range, charging an auxiliary battery from the vehicle's alternator and solar simultaneously, with an added SoftStart charging stage for demanding applications.
The Redarc BCDC1250D, part of Redarc's BCDC Classic50 lineup, is a 50A dual-input DC-DC battery charger, the highest-output model in Redarc's Classic BCDC range. Its built-in MPPT solar regulator allows the charger to draw from the vehicle's alternator and solar panels at the same time, with Green Power Priority giving preference to solar input first to reduce load on the alternator. Compared to the BCDC1240D, the Classic50 adds an additional SoftStart charging stage, engineered to better handle more demanding charging applications.
The charger works across a wide 9-32V DC input range, suits both 12V and 24V vehicle systems, and works with standard or variable/smart alternators. It's compatible with all common battery types used in automotive and RV applications, including AGM, Gel, standard lead acid, calcium, and lithium (LiFePO4). The unit is fully sealed against water and dust intrusion and rated to withstand extreme heat, making it suited to demanding off-road and touring conditions.
This charger requires a 60A input fuse, which is not supplied with the unit. Redarc recommends purchasing its FK60 60 Amp Fuse Kit separately to complete a safe installation.
The BCDC1250D is designed for battery bank sizes of roughly 200AH and above in most applications. For smaller battery banks in the 75-200AH range, Redarc recommends the BCDC1225D (25A) instead.
