Garnet SeeLevel II 709-RVC Tank Monitoring System – RV-C Network + Alarm
The 709-RVC combines SeeLevel II's accurate tank monitoring with RV-C network integration and a programmable alarm output. Perfect for RVs with multiplex systems like Silver Leaf or Firefly – tank levels and alarms are continuously broadcast on the RV-C CAN bus, allowing seamless integration with your coach's central monitoring system.

Overview

The Garnet 709-RVC SeeLevel II is designed for RVs equipped with RV-C compatible multiplex systems. In addition to providing accurate tank level readings on its built-in LED display, the 709-RVC broadcasts tank levels and alarm status to the RV-C CAN bus every 10-15 seconds. This allows systems like Silver Leaf, Firefly, and other RV-C compatible displays to show your tank levels alongside other coach systems.3 TanksRV-C NetworkAlarm OutputLPG

🔗 RV-C Network Integration – What It Means For You

The RV-C (Recreation Vehicle Controller Area Network) is a standardized communication protocol used in many modern RVs to connect various systems. The 709-RVC connects to your RV's CAN bus and broadcasts tank levels continuously.

Benefits of RV-C integration:
• View tank levels on your existing Silver Leaf, Firefly, or other RV-C compatible touchscreen display
• Tank data integrates with other coach systems for unified monitoring
• Alarm status broadcast to network for system-wide alerts
• Fresh, grey, black, and LPG levels all available on the RV-C bus
• Display scans sensors every 10-15 seconds to keep RV-C data current

Compatible with: Silver Leaf Electronics, Firefly Integrations, and other RV-C compliant systems.

🔔 Programmable Alarm Output

The 709-RVC includes a common alarm output that can trigger external devices when tank levels reach programmed thresholds. This is incredibly useful for:

Black tank full warning: Prevent toilet use when tank is full (connect to indicator light or buzzer)
Fresh tank low warning: Alert when water supply is running low
Grey tank overflow prevention: Warn before grey water backs up into shower

The alarm threshold is programmable from 0% to 99% for each tank, and you can set whether it triggers on high or low levels. The output provides a ground connection when active (max 100mA – use relay for higher current devices).

📋 Not Sure Which SeeLevel Model You Need?

The 709-RVC is specifically designed for RVs with RV-C multiplex systems. If you don't have an RV-C network or don't need the alarm output, a standard model like the 709-P3W may be more cost-effective. Use our SeeLevel II Comparison Guide to compare all models.

Why SeeLevel II Outperforms Factory Monitors

Traditional RV tank monitors use probes that extend inside the tank. These probes quickly become coated with waste residue, toilet paper, and struvite buildup – causing the dreaded "always shows full" problem.

The SeeLevel II difference: Sensors mount externally on the tank wall using 3M adhesive. They measure tank levels through the plastic tank wall using capacitive sensing technology:

  • No fouling: Sensors never contact tank contents
  • No false readings: Accurate levels regardless of tank condition
  • No maintenance: Install once and forget it
  • Better accuracy: ±⅜" precision vs. vague quarter-tank guesses

✅ What the 709-RVC Monitors

Battery Voltage: Know when batteries need charging
Fresh Water Tank: Know exactly how much water remains
Grey Water Tank: Plan showers accordingly
Black Water Tank: Know exactly when to dump – no guessing
LPG/Propane: Monitor propane level via existing sender
Pump Switch: 3-way pump control built into display
Alarm Output: Programmable high/low level trigger

LPG/Propane Monitoring – How It Works

The 709-RVC connects to your RV's existing propane tank sender (the sensor built into your LP tank gauge). It does NOT include a propane sensor – it uses the one already installed in your RV.

  • Most RVs with permanent/built-in propane tanks have a sender already installed
  • Look for wiring from your tank's dial gauge (often called "LPG gauge sensor" or "remote ready dial")
  • Portable DOT cylinders (20lb BBQ-style tanks) typically do NOT have senders
  • Calibrate by filling tank and pressing LPG + BATT buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds
  • LPG level is also broadcast on the RV-C bus

Choose Your Sensor Size

Garnet offers three sensor sizes to match your tank heights. Sensors can be cut shorter or stacked for taller tanks:

Sensor Length Resolution Ideal Tank Height
710-AR2 9" 0.25" 3.5" – 10.5" (single)
Up to 19.5" (stacked)
710-ES3 12" 0.33" 4.5" – 14" (single)
Up to 26" (stacked)
710-SS2 16" 0.44" 7" – 18" (single)
Up to 34.5" (stacked)

Tip: The 710-ES3 (12") is the most popular choice. Do NOT mix sensor types when stacking.

⚠️ Don't Need RV-C or LPG?

Garnet offers several 709-RVC variants:

709-RVC: 3 tanks + LPG + pump switch + alarm + RV-C (this model)
709-RVC-NLP: 3 tanks + pump switch + alarm + RV-C (no LPG)
709-RVC-PM: 3 tanks + pump switch + alarm + RV-C (no LPG, different pigtail)

If you don't need RV-C network integration, consider the 709-P3W instead.

🚫 Plastic Tanks Only

SeeLevel II sensors work on plastic/polyethylene and fiberglass tanks only. They will NOT work on metal tanks. Tank walls must be 3/8" (10mm) thick or less.

Installation Overview

Installation of the 709-RVC is similar to other SeeLevel models, with the addition of RV-C network connection:

  • Plan installation: Identify tank locations and measure tank heights
  • Clean tank surfaces: Sensors adhere with 3M adhesive – surfaces must be clean and dry
  • Trim sensors to length: Cut sensors to match tank height (cut between segments)
  • Mount sensors: Adhere to outside of tank wall, near bottom
  • Run wiring: Connect sensors via 2-wire bus
  • Connect LPG: Wire green LPG wire to existing propane tank sender
  • Connect RV-C: Wire CAN-Hi and CAN-Lo to your RV-C network
  • Connect alarm: Wire alarm output to indicator light, buzzer, or relay
  • Install display: Mount display panel in desired location
  • Program sensors: Tab-clipping identifies each sensor to the system
  • Program alarms: Set threshold levels and polarity for each tank

Complete installation instructions included. For detailed guidance, download the SeeLevel 709 Manual (PDF). Professional installation recommended, especially for RV-C network connections.

Built-in Diagnostics

The SeeLevel II includes diagnostic capability that allows you to check the operating characteristics of each sensor. If a sensor develops a problem, the display can show you the signal level and help identify the issue.
