Complete OEM-replacement vent kit for RV holding tank vent pipes. Fits 1" to 2-3/8" outside diameter vent pipe — covers the full range of standard RV plumbing vent pipe sizes. Everything needed for a complete installation: vent cap, roof flange, mounting screws, and putty tape.
Every RV holding tank — black water and gray water — requires a roof vent pipe to allow gases and odors to escape upward through the roof rather than backing up into the living space. The vent cap at the top of that pipe serves a dual purpose: it allows air and gas to flow out freely while keeping rain, debris, and insects from entering the vent pipe and reaching the tank below. Over time, these caps crack, fade, or break from UV exposure and temperature cycling — and when they do, the cap and its roof flange need replacement.
The Valterra A10-3389BKVP Universal Plumbing Vent Kit is designed to handle that replacement in a single purchase. The universal design fits vent pipes from 1" to 2-3/8" outside diameter — covering the full range of pipe sizes used across RV brands and model years without needing to identify an exact pipe size first. The kit includes everything needed for a complete, weatherproof installation: the vent cap, the roof flange that seals around the pipe opening, mounting screws, and putty tape for the watertight seal between the flange and the roof surface.

RV holding tanks — black water (toilet waste) and gray water (sink/shower) — generate sewer gases including hydrogen sulfide and methane. Without ventilation, these gases would have nowhere to go except back up through the drain pipes and into the living space — causing the odor problems that plague RVs with blocked or failed vent systems. The plumbing vent pipe runs from the holding tank up through the roof, where it terminates in a vent cap. The cap allows gas to escape upward while preventing rain and debris from entering the pipe. It also provides the air intake that allows water to drain freely from sinks and the toilet — the same principle as a vent on a household plumbing stack. Signs your vent cap needs replacement: • Visible cracking, yellowing, or physical damage to the existing cap • Persistent holding tank odors inside the RV despite proper tank treatment • Water entering the tank through the roof vent during rain • Insects or debris found in the vent pipe
The A10-3389BKVP includes the vent cap, flange, screws, and putty tape only — the vent pipe itself is not included. This is a replacement cap and flange kit for an existing vent pipe installation. Before installing, confirm your existing vent pipe's outside diameter (OD): • Measure the outside diameter of the existing vent pipe where it exits the roof • Confirm it falls within the 1" to 2-3/8" OD range this kit supports • The most common RV vent pipe is 1-1/2" OD — this kit fits it comfortably within the universal range If the existing pipe is damaged or needs to be replaced along with the vent cap, source the appropriate PVC or ABS vent pipe from a plumbing supplier in the correct diameter before beginning the installation. Roof sealant: The included putty tape provides the primary weatherproof seal between the flange and the roof. On some roof materials (TPO, EPDM, fiberglass), additional self-leveling lap sealant applied over the flange edge may be recommended for long-term weatherproofing — check your RV manufacturer's roof maintenance guidelines.
Before Installing: • Work on a cool, dry day — roof sealants and putty tape adhere better in moderate temperatures • Confirm existing pipe OD is within the 1"–2-3/8" range • Have additional self-leveling lap sealant on hand if your roof type recommends it Installation Steps: 1. Remove Old Cap and Flange: Unscrew and remove the existing vent cap. Remove the old flange and clean away old sealant from the roof surface around the pipe 2. Apply Putty Tape: Apply the included putty tape to the underside of the new flange around the pipe opening 3. Slide Flange Over Pipe: Slide the flange down over the vent pipe and press it firmly against the roof surface — the putty tape creates the weatherproof seal 4. Secure with Screws: Drive the included screws through the flange into the roof structure to hold the flange in place 5. Install Vent Cap: Press or snap the vent cap onto the flange/pipe assembly 6. Apply Additional Sealant (Recommended): Apply self-leveling lap sealant around the flange perimeter per your RV roof type's requirements Contact Valterra at valterra.com with installation questions.
