The Valterra A10-3389VP is a complete universal plumbing vent kit for RV holding tank roof vents — the assembly that terminates the holding tank vent pipe through the roof to allow sewer gases to escape the tank to the outside air rather than building up inside the RV. The kit includes every component needed for a complete installation or full replacement: the vent flange (base plate that seals around the pipe at the roof surface), the vent cap (weather cover that allows air out while keeping rain and debris from entering the pipe), mounting screws, and putty tape for sealing the flange to the roof.

RV holding tanks generate hydrogen sulfide and other sewer gases during waste decomposition. Without a roof vent, these gases can build up in the tank and create pressure that forces odors back up through the toilet or other plumbing fixtures into the RV cabin. The roof vent allows gases to escape continuously, equalizes pressure in the tank system, and speeds up aerobic waste decomposition — reducing chemical requirements. A cracked or missing vent cap allows rain, insects, and debris into the vent pipe, eventually blocking the vent and causing exactly the odor problems the vent is designed to prevent.
