The BAL 29025B is the sidewind version of BAL's 2,000 lb. A-frame tongue jack line — the same capacity and lift range as the topwind 29030B, but with the crank mounted on the side of the gear housing rather than the top. For some trailer and hitch configurations, a sidewind handle is easier to access and operate, particularly when the tongue area is tight or the topwind position is awkward to reach.
The standout advantage of the sidewind design is the accessible gear housing. Because the gear mechanism is exposed on the side rather than enclosed at the top, it is significantly easier to lubricate and service in the field without disassembly. Like all BAL A-frame jacks, it features precision heat-treated copper-alloyed metal gears, high-performance bearings, a pre-lubricated internal screw shaft, and E-coat corrosion protection that exceeds the ASTM 2,000-hour salt spray standard.

The 29025B is for A-frame tongues only — not compatible with straight-tongue trailers. Sidewind vs. Topwind: If your tongue area has unrestricted vertical access above the jack, either style works. Choose sidewind (29025B) if top access is obstructed or if you prefer easier field maintenance access to the gear housing. Choose topwind (29030B) if side access is limited or you prefer a folding handle that stays completely clear of the tongue area during travel.
Both models share the same 2,000 lb. capacity, lift range, tube dimensions, E-coat finish, and compatible accessories. The choice between them is purely about crank position and maintenance preference for your specific trailer tongue configuration.
