Adapts a 4-way flat connector output to a 7-way RV blade socket on the dinghy vehicle. Mounts under the hood of the towed vehicle — flexible placement vs. traditional welded brackets. Spring-loaded dust cover, slit loom wire protection, mounting bracket and hardware included. Some manual wiring required. 1-year limited warranty.
The Curt 58980 is designed specifically for flat towing (dinghy towing) — when a vehicle is towed four wheels down behind a motorhome. It plugs into a standard 4-way flat connector on the towed vehicle and provides a 7-way RV blade socket for the motorhome's tow connector to plug into. It mounts under the hood of the dinghy vehicle rather than requiring a traditional welded bracket on the front bumper, allowing for cleaner, more flexible placement. Some manual wiring (splicing) is required during installation.
Traditional dinghy towing setups require a welded connector bracket on the front of the towed vehicle — permanent, inflexible, and often a dedicated shop installation. The Curt 58980 eliminates the welded bracket requirement by providing a clean under-hood connection point. It plugs into the existing 4-way flat harness on the dinghy vehicle and presents a 7-way RV blade socket that the motorhome's tow cable can connect to when it's time to hit the road.
The spring-loaded dust cover keeps the connector clean and protected when the vehicle is driven independently. Slit loom wire protection keeps the harness cables contained and shielded from abrasion. The molded plastic housing resists corrosion for long-term outdoor durability. Mounting bracket and hardware are included.

Slit loom keeps wires contained and protected from abrasion and road debris
This adapter requires some manual wiring (splicing) during installation. It is not a simple plug-and-play connector. If you are not comfortable with automotive wiring, professional installation is recommended. This adapter is designed to work with a standard 4-way flat connector already installed on the dinghy vehicle. Verify your existing harness type is 4-way flat before ordering.

The Curt 58980 plugs into that 4-way flat output and is mounted under the hood or on the front of the dinghy vehicle using the included bracket 3. The motorhome's 7-way tow cable plugs into the 7-way RV blade socket provided by this adapter 4. When towing, the motorhome's lighting signals pass through to the dinghy vehicle's lights — brake lights, turn signals, and running lights function correctly
