Genuine OEM replacement tailpipe for Cummins Onan RV generators using 1-1/4" O.D. exhaust systems. Pipe only — clamp and hanger sold separately.
The Cummins Onan 046-00952 is a 90-degree bent steel exhaust tailpipe designed for Cummins Onan RV generators that use a 1-1/4" outer diameter exhaust system. This includes the Emerald and Marquis family (BGE, BGEL, NHE, NHEL, BGM, NHM) and the older MicroLite and Camp Power family (KV, KVC, KVD), as well as NH RV series generators — the group of older Onan RV generator families with 1-1/8" muffler outlets over which 1-1/4" O.D. tailpipe is clamped.
The 90-degree bend routes the exhaust down from the generator compartment and then runs horizontally to exit the side of the RV. The 9-1/2" drop dimension handles the vertical leg; the 20-1/4" run dimension handles the horizontal leg. These dimensions make this tailpipe suited for typical below-floor or shallow compartment installations where generator-to-sidewall spacing falls within this range.
This is the pipe only. A clamp (Onan 155-1256 for 1-1/4" pipe) and hanger are required to complete the installation. All Onan exhaust tailpipes must be properly clamped and supported — the installation manual requires support at the tailpipe end and at intervals of no more than 3 feet for longer runs.
Vertical drop routes exhaust down from compartment; horizontal run carries it to the RV sidewall exit — confirm these dimensions match your installation space before ordering
Fits the 1-1/4" O.D. exhaust system used on Emerald, Marquis, MicroLite, and older NH RV Onan generator families — NOT the 1-3/8" or 1-1/2" systems used on QG 5500/7000 and QD Series
Pre-formed single 90-degree bend — matches the standard below-floor drop-and-run exhaust routing used in most Class A, Class C, and fifth-wheel installations for these generator families
Manufactured to Onan specification — using OEM exhaust components maintains the certified spark-arresting exhaust system and does not void the generator warranty
The 046-00952 is a fixed-dimension pipe — it cannot be adjusted after purchase. Before ordering, measure the vertical clearance from your generator compartment floor to the RV underbelly (your "drop") and the horizontal distance from the bend point to where the pipe needs to exit the RV (your "run"). Onan offers a range of tailpipe dimensions in the 046-series to accommodate different RV chassis geometries. If 9-1/2" × 20-1/4" does not match your installation, compare against other available 046-series pipes before ordering. Onan installation manuals also permit field-cutting tailpipes shorter, but they cannot be extended without adding a separate extension section and clamp.
The 046-00952 is a 1-1/4" outer diameter pipe, designed for older Onan generator families. Newer Onan generators — including the QG 5500 / QG 7000 (HGJAB, HGJAC) and QD Series — use 1-3/8" or 1-1/2" outer diameter exhaust systems and require completely different pipes and clamps. Installing a 1-1/4" pipe where a 1-3/8" or 1-1/2" system is required will result in a loose, leaking fit — creating a carbon monoxide hazard. Always confirm your generator's exhaust outlet diameter before ordering any tailpipe.
Per Cummins Onan installation manuals, all tailpipe installations must: • Be gas-tight — no flexible corrugated pipe • Be supported within 18" of the open end and at no more than 3-foot intervals for longer runs • Terminate at least 1" beyond the RV perimeter — not underneath the vehicle • Maintain at least 6" clearance from any door, window, vent, or unsealed compartment opening • Not be routed closer than 3" to combustible materials (wood, felt, insulation) unless shielded Always consult your specific generator's installation manual for complete exhaust routing requirements.
This listing is for the pipe only. To complete the installation you will need: • Clamp: Onan 155-1256 — 1-1/4" exhaust pipe clamp (for pipe-to-muffler connection) • Hanger: Automotive-style tailpipe hanger rated for 1-1/4" pipe, to support the tailpipe end per Onan installation requirements If your run requires a longer pipe than this part provides, an additional pipe section and a second 155-1256 clamp can be used to extend the run.
Backed by a 90-day limited manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Cummins Onan requires OEM exhaust parts to maintain warranty coverage on the generator set. Modifications to the exhaust system using non-OEM parts void the Onan warranty and transfer liability for any resulting injury or damage to the installer. All exhaust installations must comply with applicable federal, state, and local codes.
