The Cummins Onan 191-2351 is the current OEM replacement starter motor for KV, KVD, and KY series RV generators — covering the MicroLite, MicroQuiet, and Camp Power generator families. It supersedes earlier part numbers 191-2312 and 191-1798; all three part numbers refer to the same starter application for this generator family.
The 191-2351 is an updated, heavy-duty design. Cummins Onan removed the compression release valve from later KV/KY engine production, which previously made cranking easier. This starter compensates with increased cranking torque to reliably start these engines without the compression release assist. If your generator uses any of the older starter numbers (191-1798 or 191-2312), the 191-2351 is the correct current replacement.
The starter rotates counterclockwise (CCW) when viewed from the drive end — an important specification that must match the original. The 24-tooth drive gear meshes with the engine flywheel ring gear.
