Converts a 2-5/16" gooseneck ball to a full 5th wheel hitch connection. Dual-articulating head, funnel-guided kingpin, 360° nesting. Adjustable 17"–19" height. 125 lbs. total weight.
The Blue Ox BXR2100 is built for truck owners who already have a gooseneck ball setup in their bed — whether factory-installed or aftermarket — and want to tow a 5th wheel trailer without swapping to a traditional rail-mounted 5th wheel hitch. It mounts directly to most standard above-bed 2-5/16" gooseneck balls and delivers the full kingpin-locking connection that 5th wheel trailers require, rated to 21,000 lbs. gross towing weight.
The dual-articulating head is what makes this hitch stand out. It moves both front-to-back and side-to-side independently, absorbing the angular flex that comes from uneven terrain and trailer pivoting without binding or fighting the connection. The funnel-shaped hitch head guides the trailer's kingpin into the locking mechanism, significantly reducing the chance of a false hookup or dropped trailer during coupling. Once the kingpin is seated, full 360-degree nesting holds it securely through any towing condition.
Head moves front-to-back and side-to-side for smooth, flexible towing over uneven terrain without binding
Funnel-shaped hitch head guides the kingpin into place, reducing the risk of false hookups and dropped trailers
Full 360-degree kingpin nesting ensures a solid, secure lock regardless of trailer pivot angle
Three height settings at 17", 18", and 19" accommodate different truck bed and trailer kingpin heights
HIGH RISE ball: NOT compatible. The BXR2100 currently cannot be used with a high-rise gooseneck ball. Standard above-bed 2-5/16" gooseneck balls only. Rota-Flex Pin Box: If your 5th wheel trailer is equipped with a Rota-Flex pin box, the BXR9005 Rotaflex Lockout Kit is required before using this hitch. Do not tow without it. SAE 2" kingpin only: Per Blue Ox installation instructions, only use a SAE 2" kingpin with this hitch. Non-standard kingpins may not lock correctly. Not for flatbed trucks: This hitch is not intended for use on flatbed trucks. Accident replacement required: If the hitch is involved in a collision, it must be replaced — do not continue to use it. Impact damage may not be visible but can compromise structural integrity.
In the Box: • BXR2100 Base (74 lbs.) • BXR2100 Hitch Head (51 lbs.) • Installation instructions Recommended / Required Accessories (Sold Separately): • BXR9005 — Rotaflex Lockout Kit (required if trailer has Rota-Flex pin box) • BXR9004 — 5th Wheel Lube Plate (recommended for hitch head) • BXR9006 — 5th Wheel Bed Mat • BX88360 — Universal King Pin Lock • BX88356 — 5th Wheel Wiring Harness Kit, 6' Long
General installation sequence: 1. Verify your gooseneck ball is standard above-bed 2-5/16" and properly torqued in the truck bed 2. Set the base height to one of three positions (17", 18", or 19") to achieve proper trailer levelness 3. Lower the base over the gooseneck ball until locked in position 4. Attach the hitch head to the base 5. Apply lube plate (BXR9004 recommended) to hitch head 6. Back truck under trailer; funnel head guides kingpin into position 7. Verify full kingpin lock before moving; connect safety chains and wiring Refer to the Blue Ox BXR2100 Installation Manual (PDF) for complete torque specs, clearance measurements, and safety requirements.
Many newer trucks (GM, Ford, Ram) come with a factory OEM puck/anchor system in the truck bed instead of a pre-installed ball. If your truck has a puck system, you will need to order a compatible OEM puck-style gooseneck ball separately before installing the BXR2100.
